Seriously. Wait till you pass the skell licence exam. This game just kicked itself into take my life over mode.

I ran all the way from Primordia....through the Mid Ocean Prone base to Sylvanum and was blown away. I didn't get far, but the music and atmosphere, that's my favorite continent.

I find that all I do in this game is run around and do non-story missions.

I'm starting tog et a little bugged by the gathering missions. I know everyone says don't take them and just complete them when you have the stuff.....

I pick up every single resource, and kill while I'm running around doing affinity missions and I think I've been able to complete one or two gathering missions. Those things are brutal.

I'll admit that I search on the Internet for the locations of the gathering stuff quests. Some of the locations are so damn remote and spawn rate is so damn low that actually finding them on your own is damn near impossible.

I will occasionally do this as well.

It pisses me off when someone says to go get something and there isnt a marker on the map. Like the NPC in the game knows where the thing is and just wont tell you.

Also, in case yall havent figured this out yet, if you go to the screen where you equip ground gear and press "x" for the sub menu, you can change your "fashion gear". It's purely cosmetic and just overrides the skin of whatever gear you equip, so your char always looks the same. You can do it for every party member.

I usually run around in a combat vest and boots. Sometimes I'll switch to a badass set of matching armor for boss fights. I have any member of my team in matching armor behind me (the one that looks like Iron Man's suit with the arch reactor in the chest) so it looks like they're just faceless soldiers/ robots i bring around with me on missions.

ETA:

Well, theyre faceless soldiers now. They used to be women in underwear.

This game is amazing. Just finished Chapter 4 and my only real complaint so far is that the camera rotation slows to a crawl when I am inside a building or cave. It drives me crazy.

I can't wrap my head around why it does this this. It makes me hate any time I have to go back to the BLADE barracks.

Multiple online aspects, and I like them all. It's tough to explain, but you join a "squad" which is a group of players online, however, you can join in 2 ways, let's call it active and passive. In active play, you actually can group together and hunt, etc. I still haven't done this yet. In passive mode you can work on your own, killing tyrants, completing quests, gathering resources, and contribute to your teams current objectives. You earn tickets to spend on thing like quest items. It works well.

I'm already deep in. I still don't have my skell because I keep running around doing small missions and affinity quests. And trying to get all of the possible party members up to like 17-18.

No. There's auto attack and skill selection, with free roam around a battlefield. It's not turn based in the traditional sense, but it's not an action RPG like Kingdom Hearts or Tales.

Is it comparable to anything? Considering buying it. Last JRPG I tried was FFXIII and I was kind of disappointed. I have Witcher 3 and MGSV on the immediate backlog.

From a gameplay standpoint, I think the closest thing to Xenoblade is FFXII (if you didn't use gambits on your main character). Xenoblade doesn't have a method to control AI, but replace the traditional menu with an action bar where you assign skills, and it feels pretty close.

Not really. I don't notice a large difference in effective-ness. That said, I haven't played a ton of XCX (but a lot of Xenoblade), so maybe it gets better.
