I can concede that. It takes developers a while to figure out how to maximize a console, and there was no pressure to make Zelda a graphical beast. It was going to sell regardless.

I've been playing in handheld since sunday evening because my birthday weekend hog the tv for hours and hours excuse is over

it's noticeable, but it's not "really bad" at least IMO. like Ive been saying for a year though is I think console gamers are only a small portion of who this is made for.

this is something that would appeal to my friends who don't play video games simply because they can't. ps3 was the last system they owned and life changed for them during that lifespan.

if this has the graphics of a ps3, that's all it needs IMO and unlike the wii and wii u, not keeping up with sony and Microsoft in terms of graphics this time is 100% understandable and justifiable because it is a portable console and to keep the price point at $300 (new console cost $400 and one of them was $500)

some gamers are dedicated and find the time. others can't but want to, and that's the appeal of the switch. the problem is, how big is that audience? based on anecdotes and people I know, I think it is a lot. then you have it as the kid friendly console and tablet, and a huge chunk of mobile gamers...you have quite the potential for mass appeal, but that will all play itself out. they need games, and the wii u didn't have games I agree, but a thin launch lineup is a given with every console and I don't care what anyone says...the ps4 had a shite lineup. it was a bunch of shooters that you could play on ps3.

personally the best launch for me was n64 because Mario 64 is all I wanted to play for about a year and I certainly feel like Zelda is that kind of game. if you're a wii u owner, play it on wii u. if you don't own a wii u, then Zelda is a console seller

Yes no pressure and it doesn't need to be. The frame drops are the issue. That little 256CUDA cores can only render soo much.

I don't know shite about graphics, but it is an unbelievably beautiful game

i'll take art style over graphics, but i'd rather have both obviously.

as far as photo realism goes, that new horizon game is unbelievable, but something is happening in my subconscious that makes it revolting to me maybe it is issues with death or it looks like the start of the Skynet takeover but I kind of feel gross watching it

the new resident evil game has hyper realistic graphics and I loved it though, so maybe it is the way that girl moves in the gameplay videos

It does look good. But graphics go far beyond that.

I still think it is mind blowing that the game is all on a cartridge smaller than the 3ds games

This... This right here. Okay you just like Nintendo games. That is why you can't see what we are saying.

PS4 Launch

Angry Birds Star Wars
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Battlefield 4
Blacklight: Retribution
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Contrast
DC Universe Online
FIFA 14
Flower
Forced
Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ultimate Edition
Just Dance 2014
Killzone Shadow Fall
Knack
Lego Marvel Super Heroes
Madden NFL 25
NBA 2K14
Need for Speed Rivals
Resogun
Skylanders: Swap Force
Sound Shapes
Super Motherload
The Playroom
Trine 2: Complete Story
Warframe

Switch Launch

1-2-Switch
Fast RMX
I Am Setsuna
Just Dance 2017
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
Skylanders: Imaginators
Snipperclips
Super Bomberman R

Come on... Just stop. Weed out the shite games and it is even worst.

You have 1 game. 1 real game. Which is also on last gen, like you want to point out about a few ps4 games.

And a major difference is those games actually looked better or preformed better on the ps4. Wii U Zelda is basically the same thing.

With those textures you don't need much space.

that's quantity not quality and I see a lot of games that were on ps3.

nba 2k14 is the best title on ps4 and the only thing that showed off the hardware...no one was calling it an "nba machine" madden 25 was fricking shite. a graphics upgrade but it was clearly a rushed game and the game was terrible as a result. battlefield 4 available on ps3.angry birds available on my iPhone. black flag on ps3, call of duty on ps3, fifa I can't say maybe it was as awesome as 2k14 was, injustice on ps3 (also don't like this one), and a bunch of games I've never heard of...

and I point to playstation because I own one, I waited because the lineup sucked as it always does and I would've done it for switch too if it didn't have Zelda breath of the wild and allow me to play anywhere anytime anyway I want.
so like I said, console launches are always thin in either quantity, quality or both and if you have a wii u, Zelda isn't selling you on the switch perhaps, but if this console is to be successful, it means people who don't have wii u will need to buy it.

Like what was said before. Zelda is also on the Wii U.

A lot of that is just your opinion also. Plenty of people enjoys those games you dislike.

LINK

So higher res textures take up more space. They require a larger file size because they contain more data.

yeah, i said that. Nintendo has a thin launch lineup. i'm not denying it. i just don't think they're unique and so i don't think you can make predictions about the whole life of the console and its commercial success based on that

it's as if you don't believe me when i tell you why i bought the switch.

i can play it while my wife watches tv, or in bed, or stay late at the office for a little tabletop gaming

i can squeeze in my gaming and game as much as i would like whereas currently its whenever its convenient for my wife because she would feel ignored if i disappeared for a few hours in the upstairs den.

I never say "oh you just hate Nintendo" or "oh you're just a fanboy"... ridiculous

I get why you got it. And I am happy you love it.

But as much as I would love to play Zelda, I am not dropping over 450 dollars to play one game. ( I would want a pro controller )

And with the problems they are having and lack of any kind of entertainment hub right now... I just see it as dust after Zelda is done.

Until when? Mario for Christmas?

edit: Mario Kart I already played a ton on Wii U.
Splatoon 2.... is the only other option.

The versatility makes multiplayer a thing I believe there are others like me who will not game online and miss quick multiplayer games

So for me Mario kart 8 is a new game. I played it once on Wii U and it was bundled

This is just geared towards casual gamers and former serious gamers that life demoted to casual or non gamers. That's how I see it from a marketing perspective

And just for the record I didn't jump to ps4 until a year after launch when Destiny dropped. So it is not like I just jumped at their launch either. But I can see it was better than this.

I actually had a Wii U before then.

First thing the SO asked when I brought the Switch home..

Where is Mario Kart? I thought you said they have a new Mario Kart?

She slowly shut her mouth once we played Snipper Clips.

But graphics move those systems at launch more than the games anyway and Nintendo doesn't have the wow graphics I guess what I'm saying is nintendo is hoping the people who buy this are people for whom the Wii U may as well not have existed, and who don't have the time for more dedicated gaming machines like PlayStation even though they'd like to

That may be what they are hoping. But I just don't see that market as being that big. Sure it's there but not enough to sustain a system IMO.

They need the DS share. But that does not seem to be their plan.

Bottom line is systems are bought for games.

no one does because no one has made something for them.

before i saw the switch, i was done with consoles, i was going to ride out ps4 and play the big games when i had some time like holidays or wife out of town, but this changes everything for me, and i don't think i'm alone

i have friends for whom the ps3 and ps4 are dust collectors and not because they sucked (ps3 had so many crazy good games) but because life changes for people.

video games have aged with the kids who first play them, and there are new gamers made every day so people take for granted some people stop playing or play very little or have to schedule when they can play...i'm kind of #2 and #3 and i know a lot of people like that.
