I feel like the only reason these games are so highly acclaimed is because they are the first decent Batman games to come along in years.

I just find them terribly monotonous and clunky. Every mission is run down hallway, fight an area full of enemies that take forever to kill, swing around like a monkey slowly taking out enemies during stealth missions. The stealth sections of the game are all horrible and the last two games in the series of the most pointless open world in all of gaming.

The first one was pretty awesome, after that it goes downhill.

I found Arkham City dreadfully boring.

Both (not including the 3rd) were good games. There was some repetitiveness but the riddler challenges were great.

I need to just dive head first into them. For me the hard part is getting started, I can get hooked easily after that.

if you like side scrollers you should try Batman The Brave and the Bold on Wii.

I thought City was better than Asylum. Definitely had a better plot, and could have served as a plot to a movie.

The fighting was simple and fun, the story was decent, and the voice acting was great. Sounds like a winning combination to me.

I agree with this.

Asylum ultimately failed due to the boss match at the end.

I just started origins. I remember being blown away by Arkham City, and haven't felt that way yet with origins. I'll definitely give it more time, but trying to have more realistic expectations. I loved the plot of AC, the boss battles, and the riddler challenges.

To the OP, I don't know what you want a batman game to be. Unless you want it to be an hour long game or basically an animated movie full of cut scenes its gonna get repetitive. Its batman, he is gonna fight bad guys, lurk around in shadows, and solve crimes. Having said that I would like to see more Bruce Wayne in the games.

I felt this way after watching friends play Arkham Asylum.

Then I picked it up for 20 bucks and was blown away. It was a very entertaining game

I wasn't as big a fan of Arkham City, mainly because they changed the Riddler trophies and I felt like it handicapped you in the stealth missions quicker and more severely, but it was still a great game

csb

a beat-em-up game, that has to be a beat-em-up game, because the main character... beats people up with his fist.. and tools.. is monotonous, yup, maybe the genre just isn't for you?

clunky

it has it's points in asylum.. but city really fixed most of the combat issues

oh.. are we talking about asylum, or city?!.. or origins, I'm so confused!

eh, they have their downsides, but I personally loved gliding through the open worlds..

I knew you would be here soon.

I enjoyed the first two quite a bit. They are perfect games for trophy hunters like me, so maybe that is why I liked them.

Every game gets repetitive. The key is masking that repetitiveness as much as possible. The Batman games do that pretty well IMO.

This, plus it's basically a video game incarnate of the Animated Series.

Arkham is kind of limited compared to City, but it was still a lot of fun to explore the island. First game that really made you feel like Batman.

City was great because you get the ability to fly around and glide all over the map without ever needing to touch the ground. I wasn't really a fan of how they wrapped up the story, specifically how they dealt with Strange.

Origins was disappointing. Decent story, but there was noting original about it...pretty much every aspect of the gameplay is borrowed from the previous two games.

Not being able to fly down from the tallest building in City was a crock of shite.
