We need to get a TD server going on PC. Modded out one.

I'm running a vanilla one for my friends. I quite playing, so I don't care that there are no mods

NEI is great. I doubt I could go back to vanilla and be able to function efficiently. I would have to stop every few minutes to go look up recipes. "How do I make a piston again?"

Some mods I would recommend:
Extra Utilities
OpenBlocks
Mekanism
Tinkers Construct

I've mainly been playing SolitaryCraft from the ATLauncher. My laptop isn't great and it's easy to customize which mods you want installed. The mods add so much more to do.

Definitely will be taking mod requests, about the only thing I won't be adding til we see how it runs is extra dimension stuff like GalacticCraft and Twilight Forest, so we don't have people in all sorts of other dimensions besides the end and the nether loading chunks. Twilight Forest is one of my favorites though, so I hope it runs awesome to add at least that one back in.

Tinkers Construct is a must.

Extra Utilities is interesting, I usually run Buildcraft, but this one seems to go for lower lag

OpenBlocks has similar blocks to some other mods I have, what do you use a lot in this one?

Mekanism is really nice, IC2 hasn't been real stable for me, will have to remember this one. I been using EnderIO for a lot of this, but that requires a ton of Ender Pearls, so going after the end dragon is a must with it as soon as you can to farm endermen.

im either retarded or the recent update is causing mods to crash on load...ill figure it out later

Make sure you are using mods for the correct version of minecraft, I think 1.8.4 messed up some stuff on mods. I still use 1.7.10 because it has a lot more mods available.

Yeah I have 1.8.4. I don't think it's working with the mod version I got. Do I need to just wait on a mod update? How do I go back to a compatible mine craft version

I suggest learning to create your own technic mod pack or similar service, then you can keep control of what version of minecraft you want to use and its easy to just give the link to a friend if they want to play the same one/set up a server. You need something like dropbox/online data service to store your mod zip file for the mod pack though.

minecraftforum.net, look for Chickenbones mods, I think the downloads are at chickenbones.net

might rent one if enough people are interested and set it up with less dimensional/space race stuff to try and prevent the need for a lot of ram.

Bit of advice: Prepare for contingencies of vandalism. Regular map snapshots and monitoring to track the culprits and so on.

Last time we had a TD Minecraft server that was a bit of a problem.

They had a pretty neat system setup on the previous TD servers...you could lock chests and doors with signs and you could add people to that. That way your loot couldn't be stolen. And if your base was messed with inside...it's on you for allowing that player into your protected area/stores.

Yeah I plan on definitely having locking chests. Debating on having plot claiming where you can destroy or loot on a persons plot.

It's cool to have all out pvp, but if it is too bad people won't stick around if their shite is getting destroyed and looted constantly.

I can't remember if I loaded a mod that can do that late in my run or if that was on stouts server.

I was looking to add a bunch of stuff before life took away a lot of time I could admin with.

But I do remember an issue of damaged homes and such at one point.

let me know if you remember the name of the mod. Looked at Towny and Factions and they both do a lot more than what I want, just want to give the ability for people to claim one good size plot. Not really a fan of the expanding with time stuff. You get one safe plot, the rest of the land is free for all.

That was Stout's server. I distinctly remember your TD server - it was around the same time that beta 1.8 was released. I remember having to hide my chests in concealed rooms underneath my main base to prevent anyone from stealing anything.

Tour of that server's world.

lol. Not a very creative bunch.

I like how we also discussed the sensitive subject of gender bending in the video

I love having a Grave if I die. Fans, Hang Gliders, Tanks, Elevator blocks, Sprinklers, and Luggage are all things I've used quite a bit.

Extra Utilities also has some great blocks. Spikes work well with fans to make mob farms. Then you have the golden lasso and the variety of generators.

I got the basic modpack built last night, still looking for an autobackup solution running cauldron/debian 7. Still trying to find a plot owner mod as well, kinda looking at mytown2 right now.

Gonna open it up to testing, been having trouble finding a good stable version of Cauldron using a new version of forge, this is 1388. Seems to be stable, only downside is you don't see your own skin, stay steve occassionally, but everyone else sees your skin. Server side and player side seem real stable though.

Technic modpack link: https://technicpack.net/modpack/tdgb.654969

Server address: tdgb.chickenkiller.com
(don't ban me chicken, saw it on freedns and thought what the hell )

Here is how you use the plot claim system, be careful with your first chest.

If you like sphax textures, this sphax resource pack is about 95% complete, I am constantly updating it to make it better though.
