Like I happened upon a village...and one of the buildings set up looked like a large hadron collider facility and i had never seen some of that stuff before. Dealing with the rails.
That's the railcraft station building, it automatically adds those. I forgot to turn it off in the settings before I created the world, but it is fine as is. I may have to adjust those settings some because I like using the old recipes for rails, the new ones are too expensive.
I kinda showed Hail some of the new stuff I typically build first. A pulverizer/alloy smeltor setup using coal power with the stirling generator/basic capacitor bank. I kinda showed him a bit how the tinker's construct weapons smeltor works too. That one has books to kinda show how to get it going. The wiki for it shows a lot more.
Tinker's construct is good to learn because you can craft some very powerful weapons/tools that you can add things like a ball of moss to the weapon/tool and it regains it's health in the sunlight, so no need to repair. Adding lapis will make a pickaxe mine more, redstone will make things faster, etc... The books explain it all.

I like it Dam Guide. Lots of food, lots of ores. Already have armor and a horse. Now need to find a plot of land...

I like it a lot too. Even my laptop can play it (90-100 mods is about all it can handle without too much/many lag spikes).
I'll be back on later tonight to maybe actually claim a plot.

After all the gold I wasted creating the minium stone that doesn't work in our version of the mod, that was just the final piece in the rage quit puzzle.

Dam Guide, you have steam? I want to talk to you about setting up a server like this on my PC for my friends. Is all of this compatible with OSX (I dont play on that peasantry, my friends do)?
Posted on 5/20/15 at 1:24 pm to bluebarracuda
Yep, the server will be compatible with osx clients as well.

Another question, has anyone seen a desert?

I think I may have you as a friend on steam already, my current steam display name is trip. I will give you a message if I see you on tonight. Technic launcher is on OSX as well.
They are also more than welcome to come on this one as well. I have two non TD friends playing on this server.
edit: just checked steam on my phone, yep, we are friends

Yes, but I don't remember the coords right now. There are a few from the walkabouts I have done. I have had a harder time finding the big biomes o plenty mountain biomes. Extreme hills+ and Alps. I like those two next to an ocean biome.

I probably won't be on tonight. I'm still piecing together my minecraft server machine from an old amd a6 processor and 8gb ram. Threw everything on a 32gb SSD with windows 8 (or could I throw it on Debian)?
Can I export an old server map from vanilla to this modded server?

You can, but I wouldn't recommend it. Some of the mods require new ores and they will only spawn in newly loaded chunks. If someone has explored your old world much if may be nigh impossible to find these ores.

Yeah, I have done a few exploration trips, and I cannot for the life of me find a desert. I come from a long line of moisture farmers and I miss my home. Granted, there will only be one sun, but the view will be nicer.

I must have ran around for an hour just to find enough sand to make the glass I need. I need a lot more.
And I think work is kicking me off server play. I randomly get booted. Only multiplayer. I played for about 2 hours at home last night without an issue

Run your cobble thru a sag mill. Make sure you put flint in the sag mill to increase yield. You can run run any gravel produced thru the sag mill to make more flint

Blue, I run my server with Debian 7.5 with Java 7, works better than a windows machine
I agree with salty, vanilla maps won't have the ores you need unless you go where you never explored

Word, so I'll load it with Debian.
Whenever I get this PC put together I'll shoot you a message on steam, which will probably be in the next day or 2

I just pushed an updated forge to the server, hopefully this helps with the constant disconnects people seem to be having.

One question, is the iron chests mod compatible with your forge version? I am really missing my crystal chests
