The first game looked great and was fun but it was also in a very down year.

Think it is a pass this time around.

It’s sitting on my Xbone waiting for me to wreck shop on some Orcs! This game has the potential to get me in trouble this week.

i went ahead and bought it. i loved the last one, and this one has some multiplayer elements so i wanted to get in on that early even if it ends up not being any fun.

if they improved on the first one this game will be amazing, i beat the first one so fast because i loved the way it played

starting on nemesis difficulty and getting my arse kicked

oh and i bought the silver edition. i know i couldve waited and got the game half off in a few months but saving $30-50 isnt worth waiting that long to me

I bought the PS4 to play Shadow of Mordor, so there's no doubt I get this.

I started it last night. More of the first game with bigger environments. What's not to like?

Skill tree is larger and more advanced this time. Plus you can upgrade your gear.

Went up against a LVL17 captain right off the bat and got stomped.

I'm hoping difficulty is a little harder. In the first game, learning the mechanics was almost as important as the upgrades. Once you had a firm grasp of the game mechanics you can kill most orcs even without a single upgrade. The upgrades just turned you into an unstoppable god.

Yup. There was no difficulty level. I got killed a ton the first time I played. One guy kept showing up and killing me with his damn crossbow.

But...once you really learned how to keep moving while attacking, you could kill just about anyone without any upgrades.

Not that I didn't love becoming a super god.

I just didn't want to start the new game with my knowledge from the first and be able to kick everyone in the arse.

Glad to hear there are difficulty levels.

I bought the first game and only played it for a week or so. Is it worth playing it again and finishing before the new game? I think I read you can transfer your character and minions, but not sure if there is any real benefit.

I’m just trying to boost levels as quickly as possible. You can’t recruit orc captains if they are higher level than you. I’ve only been able to turn three and I’ve had to kill some cool looking orcs that I’d like to have taken under my wing.

I don’t have many complaints so far. Just a more fleshed out shadow of mordor which is awesome.

I loved the game, so I'll say yes. However, the story wasn't great.

I don't think that's possible, but I wouldn't want to do it, either.

The difference in quality in the game is so huge it's amazing. It's fun to play and am Definitly enjoying it but some of the animation is laughably bad. The landscape are great. The rat animations are just laughably bad. I was on the back of a troll and stabbing it and the knife was like a foot away from its back.

I also find the captains to be much more challenging. Not too many you can take a straight approach too. Either they're ranged and stay away or they don't allow you to leap them and if you leap over them too much, they'll stop that shite.

Another thing is that captains have the ability to adapt to your play style.

Abuse one move or attack too much? They’ll shut you the frick down and force you to find a new strategy.

really like it so far. played a handful of hours and I'm still in the first city you start in. barely scratched the surface, but it feels like I've gotten deeper.

only big complaint is trying to climb something while in combat. I always roll into what I'm trying to climb instead of climbing it. have to stop what I'm doing, allowing the enemy to damage me, then jump onto whatever it is I'm trying to climb. very annoying

I learned this lesson this morning. The captains have such diverse skill sets now. They truly are challenging even early on in the game.

I'm still learning how to upgrade gear and grind on my skill tree. I haven't even tried to work with the armies yet.

Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Apparently this is a zillion GB download.

Thought about waiting for all of the major reviewers to hit but from what I have read the micro transactions aren't needed at all to finish the game unless you want to finish it fast without leveling your toon.

I tend to grind the hell out of all RPGs to max levels so I won't mind grinding this to max levels.

Not sure I will wait up for the download to finish, but I'll start the grind tomorrow.

Picked it up the other day even with all the concerns about micro transactions and grind.

Worth a buy. Just started building my army in Act 2. Dominating captains to join my army is addictive as Hell. Also, I tend to run around and kill all the white-colored orcs because they drop loot/coins. So much fun.

I'd recommend doing those side quests like finding the poem pieces (get a legendary piece of armor for each poem) and Shelob memories. Lots of xp to unlock Talion's skills like Shadow Strike.
