Enjoying it so far, but man is there a lot of fluff sidequests in this game. More than the first.

I'm addicted to online vendetta and online seige. I built up my army in the first area available and basically quit playing the story stuff just to lay seige.
Yea just got to act 2 and this game went from good to fricking amazing
Anybody reading this that hasn't made it to act 2 yet just focus on doing the story missions till you get there.

Open caragor cages but opened them all and it never spawned the boss. That is the only glitch to this point.
Yep, the exact same thing happened to me.

So how is the game? I was excited about it but saw a gazillion bad reviews on steam today. Not sure if they are legit or if it's just micro transaction hate

The reviews are good from credible critics.
I ordered it and it is arriving tuesday. Can't wait.

As to the micro hate, I guess if you plan to spend a long time playing the online Siege Battles, maybe you could be upset that some folks can pay to get an edge, but for the main campaign, you don't even remotely need the micro transactions.
I sort of made Act 1 into the Shadow version of the Hinterlands. I think I spent about 30 hours on Act 1 doing everything and just wandering around killing everything.

Betrayal!
I think they need to tweak this a bit. Seems to happen too much which is probably more realistic within the context of the game, but a real pain is the arse.
Especially if the blood brother of the betrayal guy is also one of your captains. So you lose 2 guys real quick.
Admittedly, I might just be unlucky, but I've had about 3 betrayals pretty close together.

I got it yesterday and played for a few hours in the first area. I loved the first game and so far the new one is a lot of fun. It's a lot harder.
I keep doing vendetta missions against the same guy and getting close but can't kill him. I think I'm a level 5 and he's up to 21.
I'm just going to move onto story missions now.

Tip 1 - INTEL IS IMPORTANT
I pretty much ignored it in the first game. But the orcs are much more advanced this time and it has come in handy.

There was a level 27 guy way over my level and it looked like he was going to be a nightmare to kill with orcs all over the place. Checked his intel and he had mortality to stealth. Boom. One hit death from the skies.

I really enjoy it. Not many complaints. Haven't tried any online stuff, but haven't seen the need to buy extra stuff.

Wait for them to attack and hit Y (Xbone) After you parry you can get a few hits in. Rinse and repeat.

You damage them until they are broken (green) then dominate them. Poof. Lots of dodging. Don't stay in one place too long.

Unless I'm in an all out brawl, I find myself constantly holding down RT.

Counter when they strike (you have to be fast), and pummel them one by one until you break them. Use executions when you can.

Thanks. I've been trying that, guess not quite quick enough. Also been trying the elvin rage thing to get some damage in

So glad I followed this advice. Building my army and pretty much recruiting every captain in the Act II region was fun af. I played the first game when it came out but gave up when captains kept killing me while I was fighting another. Does the first game have army recruitment like this one too?

Yes, but to a lesser extent.
