That moment when the screaming douche with an alarm for a head pops up behind you in Bioshock Infinite near the end made me crap my pants.

Scariest game: Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Scariest moment in non-scary game: Shalebridge Cradle in Thief: Deadly Shadows, and it's not really close. If you've played it, this is your answer. There's a Wikipedia page and a great article about it

F.E.A.R is really fun and scary at times, mostly pop-out-of-nowhere and make you jump kinda scary.

FEAR doesnt get mentioned enough as one of the greatest all time games. This title was incredible and a high point of PC gaming in 2006.

I've still yet to finish Alien: Isolation or Evil Within. I can't play them for a long enough span to get into them...I freak out and quit.

Also, it takes me forever to get through any part because I go so slow trying to avoid being scared.

But as for scariest game experiences - Dead Space. The whole damn thing. Love that game.

Was coming to mention this. But the game is near horror I guess

Ravenholm is probably the next best answer, but that moment is also SUPPOSED to be horror. It's meant to be creepy. So even if the game isn't that sequence sure as heck is.

The boss fight for Shadows of Mordor was also solidly scary.

I played many, many hours of it online.

And I feel bad because I just realized the title said "non-horror game" and I listed 2 horror games woops

I should have been clearer in the title, horror games are fine. But I was also looking for scary moments in non-horror games.

Dead Space is a fantastic game. The scenery, the sound. Completely well done game. Scared the crsp out of me.

I had surround sound and I would find myself checking behind me in real life randomly.

Try playing Doom 3 (the 2005 remake) with the sound up and the lights off.

I remember playing FEAR. Climbed down onto a ladder and as soon as you looked up that dead girl was right in front of you. Scared the absolute shite out of me. A truly scary game.

One of the few games where you hope you have to fight enemies because walking around after a bit of nothing to shoot means something scary was coming.

The most fightened I ever got was in Fallout New Vegas. I wasn't expecting much from plants in vault 22 when one of those spore people jumped out on me from some bushes.

Those vaults creep me out.

I literally would have to take breaks about every hour to calm my nerves. That game is something serious.

Never could finish this game. Damn game play is just so boring. The atmosphere is great and the first hour of so yeah I was tense, then it was a yawn fest.

How long was the game anyway?
