Decent PSU for $9.99

From a few indepth reviews, this PSU is actually not a generic POS

I still can't believe I got a working 7970 for $190.

It makes me so happy!

About to have even less in it when I sell this POS after market cooler that came on it.

Anyone need or want this?

I have an unused twin frozr cooler in my drawer. Just keeping it so that I can resell the card next year. That cooler looks ok, but my air cooler knowledge is far out of date these days. Someone will have to tell me when the hyper 212/evo are no longer the best budget CPU coolers.

Part of the problem the guy had with this card was that cooler but he was too dumb to realize it. The card will BSOD when it hits around 72-75 degrees. I cleaned it all up and put the factory cooler (which is a very nice cooler) back on with some Arctic Silver paste. After doing that and setting up a fan profile it has yet to get over 65 on me and averages 60 on BF3 Ultra.

Does that card's bios allow you to monitor the VRM temp? I bet the BSOD happens because by the time the core is 72, the VRMs (or possibly the memory) are hotter than holy hell. I had an XSPC Razor block when I had my single 7970. I overclocked it significantly with a 1.3 vcore. Under heavy load (mining or furmark), the core would max at about 45-50, but the VRMs would get to 100+. The passive acetal VRM cooling on that block was not sufficient for the ridiculous voltage, and it would cause some lockups when mining or running furmark (but would be fine with reasonable temps while gaming).

How can you monitor VRAM temps?

That's a good point. I need to look into it and see.

I honestly bought the card to fix and flip just like I do everything else but since I got it stable I will just keep it and sell this 660 I bought last week and move my 7870 into my HTPC.

So the 212 cooler doesn't fit on this mobo, the stand ups don't fit on the mobo to elevate frame over CPU

It should fit any AM3+ socket

Are you sure you are using the AM3 adapters for it and not the LGA ones?

Did you take the fricking backplate off the motherboard and use the backplate the cooler came with!?

EDIT: I bet that's the problem.

itll fit. just take a step back from it and re-read the shitty instructions. the 212 is a great cooler but it can be a bitch and a half to install.
