I've heard if it has dead pixels then you won't even notice.

I didn't have any but that's what I've heard

I WOULD NEVER TAKE THAT RISK! NEVER!

But seriously, I am much too afraid of finding/noticing a dead pixel, and it would drive me crazy.

What do you guys think of this laptop?

For my dad and his business. Plan on adding a 128gb or 256gb ssd in there. With a 256gb Kingston hyperx 3k it comes out to be $733.99. Seems to have the best specs for that price. His budget is $1000

that guy's perfect pixel policy allows for up to two anywhere on the screen, but that price is really good. When i bought my crossover, it was nearly 400 for perfect pixel. I think I might go for it in perfect pixel.

Same here. I would feel like I just wasted money I'm way too obsessive about things like that.

When i get mine, you better believe I want perfect pixels. If I am going to put the money out for it I would rather shell out a bit more to get it right. To each his own though. I'm a picture geek.

Will it have room for an hdd and that ssd or just the ssd? I'm assuming those specs cover what he does with it. Are you looking at the laptop or that model because that says refurbished.

And for my third post in a row, is every cat5e ethernet cable the same like hdmi is? I need about 7 feet to plug into my ps3.

good question
my laptop has two 2.5" sata bays but the bottom is designed specifically to keep the second bay from being used. no amount of drimmel action will fix it. its a clever way the manufacturer can take a single motherboard model and create 2 very different computer classes with it. basically ive got to find a whole new bottom plate for it if i want to install a second drive.

that price is legit as frick. anyone who doesnt have a SSD should jump on it immediately.

? about that steam mover app. does it work if your entire steam folder, application files and all (not just games), is stored on a drive other than your OS drive? or do i need to reinstall steam to the normal C drive location and go from there?

It should work either way. It moves the files to a different drive for that particular game and then creates a bridge within Steam telling Steam where to find the game files so it shouldn't matter where your Steam client is located.

OK
Ill be upgrading to a larger SSD soon so I'm trying to figure out what would be best. I know games like skyrim see a big improvement on an SSD. Right now everything including the steam application is installed on a WD black drive

Plan on removing that shite hdd entirely. My dad only uses about 100gb of space on his current PC. I prefer refurb over new

I did a similar thing for a desktop I built for my boss. I asked him how much space he was using on his current hard drive, and it was something like 50GB. So his new desktop has a 256gb SSD, which should last.

That should be the new recommendation for builds with the way SSD prices are... For builds on a budget, get a 256GB now and save up for the HDD for storage, instead of the other way around.

Too bad most gamers would find it highly impractical, and a 256GB SSD is still $100+ more expensive than a cheap WD Blue. I only play one "big" game at a time for the most part, with a few casual games in between, like Poker Night or Mark of the Ninja. So the space shouldn't be super necessary at the start.

yeah but most people are using their computer not just to game but as a multi use device. they need the space for movies and music.

Ok.. guys I'm really really confused here, all of you have shaken me to my core when it comes to computer parts.. but for some reason I can't help but think at least intel is better than amd on CPUs...

but why on earth are AMD CPUs so much cheaper for so much more GHZ!?!?!?! Is it because intel realizes that 4.0GHZ is overkill.. and is intel still better because they have better Motherboards.. I'm confused!?!

ETA: It looks like AMD goes more for GHz while intel puts more MB into Cache? this has utterly confused me

Ghz is a flashy number but not the most important thing. Intel has a superior architecture to amd. It's not a big gaming difference but intel does have the edge there.
