That's a sigh of relief. Were they mistaken about the murmur?

The doctor I spoke to wasn't a cardiologist but that the cardiologist didn't see anything he was worried about. He said it is possible to have that issue with a newborn.

I just got a call that she is doing OK but hasn't responded to the treatment so they are now moving her to Birmingham where there is another treatment they can do if it comes to it. His words though, "I swear to god your baby will be ok" they just feel more comfortable having that option there.

New update. We are at children's hospital in Birmingham. This place is terrific and they believe they know where the issue is. They have started the long process of fixing it. There are a lot of steps but they are all high percentage so we have confidence. We will be here at least a week, maybe a month, who knows. Thank you guys for all the support.

Today went very well. She responded to the heart medication and her numbers started improving. If she continues to improve as they ween her off things then she can have the procedure tomorrow to fix it. It's not over yet but today lifted our spirits a lot.

Glad to hear she's responding well to everything. Sounds like you've already got one that's tough as nails

No update as of now. They may delay her procedure until tomorrow depending on her blood pressure which has been a tad low. Everything else has been good. Thanks guys.

When/if you find some time, I'd be curious to know more about what's going on with her. What kind of procedure are they planning to do, and what do they think her "condition" is exactly? I've read about heart murmurs in infants, back when my wife was pregnant with our first (because heart issues are prevalent in both our families), and it appears there are two types of murmurs -- I'm sure you've done a lot more reading on it than I have by now.

Once the procedure's done and they let yall finally go home, do the doctors think she's in the clear at that point? (i.e., just a birth anomaly and nothing to be concerned about as she grows up).

I've done very little research honestly because I know how that can go wrong. I'm mostly letting them educate me here. I will gladly go in more depth when it's over and I'm not typing with a phone.

They have given me no reason to be worried for her long term. I actually had a friend reach out and tell me his 17 year old had the same issue at birth and she has never had 1 issue since.

I didn't check the board over the weekend and didn't see the updates on your baby until just now. So sorry y'all are having to go through this but it sounds like the doctor's are getting it figured out.

Please keep us updated as you are able to (and when you feel up to it).

Probably a smart decision. I'm a research junkie, and when it comes to medical issues, it's rarely a comfort to read about all the possibilities online. The fact that a doctor told you he swears to god she'll be ok must offer some level of assurance.

Stay strong. This will be you soon enough:

Wow man, sorry I haven't posted in here, didn't realize what was going on, how everything is good and you are in my prayers - also if you need anything I live in B Ham and could get you anything you need if you have any request. I know a few people that work at Children's - those guys absolutely love the lives of the little children, your girl is in really good hands. (if you need anything please don't hesitate for a second to ask.. and prayers man!)
