Looks like the newest update will be released this week at some point judging by all of the news and preview videos coming out. This is possibly the biggest update to the game thus far.

Here are some of the features being implemented.

Editor overhaul

Kerbal astronaut experience (Kerbonauts now start out as pilots, engineers or scientists. Engineers can repair broken parts on the shite and
scientists get you higher science reward points. Still not sure what pilots
do outside of just flying)

Extra contracts (You get contracts for starting bases on moons and planets as well!)

Biomes everywhere (Satellites can pick up biomes on planets so it's easier to search planets and moons now as well)

MK3 overhaul

Upgradable buildings

Cinematic Trailer

Preview video

This game just gets better and better with each new release.

I hope the glitches in vehicle assembly were fixed. Nothing worse than parts that fit never going green.

No kidding, this update looks great.

Spent some of the weekend learning rendezvous techniques from my bro in law. I always waste too much fuel doing it. He's got his PHD in aerospace and focused a lot on that side of it. Got a lot better at it. He started doing formulas and shite to figure it out. Went way above my head, but gave me a lot of good tips to do it a lot easier. Couldn't get him addicted though, he said the game is too much like work.

I've wanted to get one of those electronic wrist blood pressure monitors and see what mine is during a difficult maneuver (landing and docking).

In my latest career mode I cut off quickloads. I thought my blood pressure was high when I was landing on Duna the first time with quickloading. After landing on the Mun and Minmus without being able to quickload, I think I had a mini stroke a few times when I would land at a weird angle or my craft would start to tilt

One of my missions to the mun my craft was tipping over and I hit the throttle a few times because I got scared and slammed into the side of a crater. I was piiiiiiiissed.

I had to look up what quickloading was...

Landings haven't been much of an issue for me since wing tip beta days.

This game is so awesome. Started a new career to get the full experience. Starting to get tired of building Minmus/Duna Bases though. Poor Kerbals in my old careers are stuck there forever.

Thinking about restarting my career mode. What mods should I be running?

I am running vanilla right now, but here are a few I like.

Kethane is always a good one because it gives you goals on other planets/moons and also offers what I think is a legit way to refuel.

Docking port alignment is a good one if you get into rendezvous

I like kerbal engineer, good to see mass/thrust ration and such in editor.

KW Rocketry is good

If you aren't very good, MechJeb can help a lot.

B9 Aerospace

KAS

Lots of good visualization packs, but this can really put a hurt on your computer

Chatterer can be funny, but also kinda annoying

I've played the free version for maybe a couple hours total and I can't even get the shite into orbit. Fun stuff, though, I wish I had the patience to be good at this game.

Had my first mun mission in my new career mode last night. I landed awkwardly and my engine blew off my ship. Now I have to mount a rescue mission. I love making rescue missions though.

I agree, rescue missions are more fun than exploratory.
