Just go to your Heroes Altar, pick a "hire" button at the bottom and start rolling.

The best way is by earning or buying gems and rolling for random heroes. You do this from The heroes altar. Your other options are using hero badges (i highly recommend you dont do this, youll need the badges for leveling and i dont think you can get legendaries from badges. The third option is with shards which are earned from dungeons and Here Be Monsters (blue portal to the left side of your base). Shards are the only way to choose which hero you get but there are a few that are only available through random gem rolls, and it takes a long time to earn them (at least early on, ive only been playing for 2 or 3 weeks).

This is my personal raiding team, for the boss fights I use a lvl 1 succubus so I roll with this 5. Never found a need for a tank when snowzilla can be a pretty good tank due to his hp.
Champ - just a physical bruiser, aoe stun as well
Druid - most OP skill in the game
Pumpkin Duke - 2nd most OP skill in the game
Snowzilla - one of the highest dps and wipes out waves. also pretty high hp
Thunder God - his skill is what leads teams to victories w/o dying. wipes out massive areas

I really need to check out Snowzilla. Got mine to level 60 but he is just chilling as garrison.
I got a Pumpkin Duke finally last week.
Current team is:
103 TG 4/9
103 Druid 4/9
95 SM 5/9
93 Succ 3/9
90 Ninja 3/9
80 Champ 2/9
68 PD 2/9
60 Snowzilla 2/9
44 Reaper 2/9
Bunch of lvl 60 and 40s for garrisons. I've been farming E regularly the past week. Exp is pretty amazing over farming D.

if you have spirit mage, there's no need for snowzilla. snowzilla is only good if you need a 5th hero to dish out a lot of damage.

Ok, I reconfigured my base so I usually beat C now with 3 towers (2 archer, 1 cannon).
Man you get some sick XP, gold, etc. for C compared to B.

I'm still stuck on A, however 99% of my time is devoted to raping and pillaging these idiots who can't figure out how to build walls in any way that would actually help.

Yeah just when I started your walls increased your might. Easier to not increase might by building walls

For A-C, if you have 3 towers, one should be a cannon due to #s of foot soldiers.
Once you get to D, there are birds so you need arrow towers.
I'm currently doing D with 3 towers 4 champs 90-99 and a TG at 67. TG is OP lol
