Diplomacy is awesome, but only with seven players, so it can be hard to get to the table. Also, don't play it unless you don't like your friends and really don't want to talk to them ever again. Seriously, people can get really, really angry about this game.

But, if you have enough people, and everyone can be mature about it, it's one of the most immersive games ever made.

Use to play Stratego as a kid also. Started looking around for it so I could play with my two sons during the holidays. Couldn't find one in any store, or game store for that matter. So I bought the one I had growing up on ebay. Brought back the memories.

What about playing these online as a group from this board?

I read where diplomacy by mail was extremely popular. I don't see why it wouldn't work online.

Anybody still play D&D? Haven't played in years, checked out the manuals at the bookstore tonight. Kinda got the itch

I have never played D&D but I started listening to a podcast called "The Adventure Zone" made by the same guys from My Brother, My Brother, and Me.

Its like 3 brothers and their dad playing D&D and they fully built their characters from scratch and had back stories and all and while doing the podcast they played the parts. fricking hilarious. Seriously made me want to get with my friends and do the same thing

There are actually free apps out there where you can get matched up with six other people and play by distance. I played a few games that way. It was a lot of fun, but it still doesn't hold a candle to in-person Diplomacy.

We have the apps for ticket to ride, carcassonne, splendor, Le Havre, Stone Age, catan and some others. Most are very well done.

Went to a new comic shop in slidell. All they had was Betrayal at the House on the Hill. My nephews and brothers had a blast playing it.

It's certainly fun and easy to learn, but players spend a lot of time trying to get items and buff stats prior to the haunt. When the haunt starts the players are pretty spread out which can make the haunt pretty anticlimactic. It's also pretty tough for the betrayer to win IMO

We've only done a couple haunts. I was the traitor once and used the fact that they were spread out against them. My explore then took control of the mystic elevator.

Definitely depends on the haunt. Some are better than others. It's a hell of a lot of fun when you have a good group, atmosphere, and haunt.

I've seen that title before. Just looked into it on your suggestion. Looks fun as hell. It's next on my list. Thanks!

1) Actually mentioned on the first page

2) Probably because it's antiquated and kind of terrible. It's that thing you played when you were a kid because great board games were few and far between.

To be fair risk isnt a bad board game. It's just that there are modern board games that do what risk does a whole lot better.

Sounds great if I were in La. Unfortunately I live in Cbus Ohio surrounded by Buckeyes. Speaking of getting together for some beers they have a few bars in town that offer board games too. Some charge a flat fee for all you can play, others are free. Haven't been yet.
