So over 10% of the world's 50 best restaurants are in New York, and Paris is home to another 10%. That is quite the concentration of good restaurants in just two cities.

Wd 50 ahead of 11 Madison Park is hilarious. This list is not respected by chefs at any nice restaurant.

We rode our bikes by Noma last summer....looked at the prices....kept riding. It would have been about $200 a person for lunch.

Been to three:

15) Le Bernardin (NY)
32) The French Laundry (Yountville, CA)
44) La Maison Troigros (Roanne, FR)

TFL was my favorite. Alain Ducasse is at the top of my want to list . . . have had wonderful dinners at August in NO though.

Yes. I do not to go before 2:00 AM. In the state I am in on those visits, it would always make the top 10 in the world. The next morning, not so much.

I hear they're doing some crazy things with foams and liquid nitrogen on their cheese fries these days.

Apparently the foam and nitrogen is only done when football season isn't around.

I've been to seven, but as others have said, this list is kind of silly. Restaurants are kind of like wines,in that if you take a handful of restaurants that are on the same basic level, on any given night one will outshine the rest, and on another night, a different restaurant will best the others, and so forth. Having said that, some of these are laughable. I wouldn't put Ssaam bar in the same class as most of these places, and WD-50 is fun, but it's certainly not as good as, much less better, than its American peers on the list. I ate at WD-50 and Eleven Madison park just last week and to compare the two would be like comparing apples to hot dogs.

I've been to #10 (Per Se) and #15 (Le Bernardin). Per Se was something I will never forget; a once in a lifetime opportunity that was absolutely amazing. Le Bernardin was great but nowhere near what Per Se is.

At Per Se I had some tiny, delicate dishes of things like rabbit, caviar, oysters, fish, etc. But the highlight was watching the guy open a huge box with about $10,000 worth of truffles in it. He pulled a small truffle out and shaved the truffle over everyones' pumpkin soup like how waiters grate the cheese over your spaghetti or salad.
