Why does this board refer to any/all Middle Eastern restaurants as Greek/Lebanese?

These restaurants are not Greek. A good many are not Lebanese as well. Middle Eastern food and Greek food share a few common and similar dishes but they are different cuisines. Lebanese food is very similar to the food of other Middle Eastern countries but their are lots of regional dishes from country to country.

Probably because that is what they call themselves

They do call themselves that some in La. Have not noticed it in other areas much. I guess Greek food was popularized in the US before Middle Eastern so it made sense to tie in to a cuisine with some similar dishes.

Do not see that here.
Also, the families that run these places are not confused.

Why are you such a snowflake about this topic? You whine about this (and many other things) all the time.

I don't know. The older I get the more I like to bitch about trivial shite. Get off my lawn.

Most of these restaurants advertise as non-offensive Mediterranean/Greek or Lebanese/Greek to attract customers in the South. They don't want to appear too ethnic. Sometimes you get Morrocan, but lots of people are not going to eat at a Pakistani or Iraqi restaurant, but are fine with Greek/Lebanese regardless if the dishes are the same or similar.

Of the three big ones in Baton Rouge (Serop's, Albasha, and Roman's) all three say Greek/Lebanese on their websites. If they didn't want to be referred to serving that cuisine they would change it I think.

Most of the posters here are from in or around BR.
BR has this weird thing where all the Mediterranean cuisines are called Greek-Lebanese. This is because BR received many first and second wave Lebanese immigrants, and they would put Greek-Lebanese to make it seem more familiar to southerners back in the day. They've just stuck with it.

Then why keep the "Lebanese" portion of the moniker?

I noticed you never responded in that thread after I listed ten of the highest rated boudin places that all have a crisp casing. Why is that?
