Going to dinner with someone tomorrow night and they want to go to The Steakknife. I've never seen it mentioned here.

i went once, steak was very good, place seemed like more of a place for the old folks. Haven't been back, there are a lot of good steak places in the city with better atmospheres. But, if you have to go won't be and at all.

I last ate there about 10 years ago before Katrina. I had recently gotten engaged and Harry Connick Sr. was singing in there. I sort of dug the old folks group home vibe. Rather unique. I remember Harry gave us his card and tried to sell himself singing at our wedding.

Decent reasonably priced steak, if nothing really special. I should probably go back, but it's not the type of place that often crosses my mind.

Osso bucco is by far the best option.

Steaks are not good. The fried shrimp are good. Tidbit (pizza bread) is delicious as are the fried catfish bits if they have them.

Eta - would not elect to go there, but there are some tasty dishes if you have to go

Typical old person neighborhood place surviving on nostalgia. Don't expect much.

How old do you think Tigerdroppings is?

Nah, I went a year or two ago and it wasn't awful. It wasn't my choice then, it's not my style of food. I hope your guest is not looking for a modern or upbeat meal as it's not that kind of place. If you go with limited expectations, you can enjoy yourself.

That is some ignorant shite.

Steak Knife is awesome. Steak, done to perfecting. If steak isn't your style of food, I'm sorry for you.

I ate there a few weeks ago, and contrary to what has been said, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Doesn't have the ambiance or service of the finer NOLA steakhouses, but it is quality food.

ive been twice in the past couple years. I thought is was pretty good both times, and everyone else in my party did too. steak was cooked perfectly with lots of flavor, I had bluecheese melted on it as well.

is it the best steak in nola? no. but I will go back.

Is this similar to "Pittsburgh" rare?

Thanks for the condolences.

The steak is choice meat at close to prime prices. They use thinner cuts which is annoying and as others ahve said it comes out with little flavor. Not sure how they cook them, but not great.

I have gone maybe 5-6 times in the past year. I would never elect to go and suggest ordering things besides the steak.

I think the steaks are great. I've always had great food and service. I find the décor to be VERY BORING.

Classic old New Orleans type steakhouse.

Solid.

Decent menu, prices a bit high.

Nothing spectacular, but definitely a decent choice.
