I didn't start eating olives until about a year ago (I'm 29). Now I love them. The flavor was always too bold for me.

My two were pickles and eggs. I think I must have had a bad experience with eggs as a child. My mom says I would tear up a plate of scrambled eggs as a toddler, but for years in my childhood the smell of them would make me sick. I tried them again in high school or college and loved them.

My only real hangup with pickles is I don't like them alone or in any sandwiches, burgers, etc. I love a good relish on a hot dog and in chicken salad. I also like other pickled things like Okra and watermelon rind. My Aunt's sweet pickles are great. So of course the one thing that's producing like crazy in my garden this year is Cukes. I've got a batch of 14 day pickles going that I started on Sunday afternoon because my wife and son love them. Of course I'll try those, or chop them up and make fresh relish to use in recipes.

Hated? Probably tomatoes. Won't eat a burger without 'em now.

Mashed potatoes. If only I still hated them.

Also, I went through a period as a kid where rice made me gag. Many nights of annoying my mother by asking to have my gravy over Evangeline Maid bread instead of rice. Once I started eating it again, it could only be rice that my mother cooked (not at anyone else's house) and also, every grain of rice had to have gravy on it, no plain rice.

It would be easier to list what I liked as a child than what I didn't.

Same - it wasn't so much the taste for me. It was the idea of eating something grown in shite. Now there's nothing better than some sauteed mushrooms.

That's how my sisters were growing up, and one of them still is. They actually liked it well done. We joke with one sis that we have to burn hers before she will eat it. Last time I was at my parents I ended up doing the grilling, and forgot about that. It was like medium well, and the slightest bit of pink showing. She wouldn't eat it.
