Ridiculous, how can a restaurant in Alabama go downhill? That's like littering in a dump.

Reminds me of my many trips over to my brother's house when he lived in the Kenner area. Basically most of the south shore New Orleans area minus Metarie and a few spots in New Orleans were disgusting dirty places. A fun disgusting dirty place, but a dirty place nonetheless.

I don't know if it's been mentioned or not, but you can't go wrong with Baumhower's Wings in Tuscaloosa...
Great wings, burgers, steaks, etc... And awesome atmosphere for watching the game. Check it out.

Still in Tuscaloosa. I haven't been the selector of restaurants with the exception of a late dinner Friday night with friends. We wanted to eat close to where we were staying, so we ate at Chuck's Fish which was very good. It was pretty hard watching the AL/FL game in Alabama land.
Had a quick burger at Mugshots watching the Saints game. And, i mean quick. Those burgers came right out dry as a bone. They'd obviously been sitting under a heat element awaiting our arrival. Ate at a Japanese joint called Kobe, I think. Some food was okay. Some not so much.
Seeing the tornado damage reminds me of Katrina, but lots of work appears to have been done and more to come. We're staying at a cute free standing 2 BR apt right on the edge of the path. The property had a good bit of tree damage and damage to the house and apt. All repaired though. First time I've seen tornado damage. Looking at the path is strange.

I don't quite understand the love for Mugshots. Nice looking location but meh on the food. I've heard really good things about Ephiphanys which is very close to Mugshots. Try Depalma's which is on the same block as the RBC Bank building (tallest downtown building). Pretty solid Italian food. Make sure to either go to Kozys or Evangelines for a nicer meal before you leave.
As for the tornado, in some ways it almost looks worse now with all the clean up. The entire affected stretch of 15th Street just looks really weird with the complete lack of any buildings at all not to mention all the large pieces of destroyed homes still in the small lake.

Thanks. We're leaving later today, so probably a quick lunch before we leave. Weather is lovely this morning. Chilling on the porch. We're on Hargrove. Owners told us they couldn't see the hospital from here before, but there's a clear view of it now. Two cars were on the property right next to each other. One had a small scratch. The other was totaled.

Tuscaloosa doesn't have anything great. The only places I ever liked were destroyed in the tornader. Arby's is the best BBQ in town and Krystal has the best burger. Northport has a couple decent places but nothing to brag about.

Which places that you liked were destroyed by the "tornader"?

Mugshots made me think of a bad Chili's though I haven't eaten at a Chili's in years. I think their burgers was decent, as I recall. I'd go back to Chuck's Fish.

Where did y'all end up eating lunch? Just curious

We grabbed something at Panera because my sister needed to pick up a load of various bagels for someone who loves them. First time I've been there. Breads are good and the tomato bisque was good. Half sandwich wasn't good. Took a few bites and that's it. Had a Halloween cookie instead. It was very good.

I've still never been to Panera Bread even though they're all over the place. I'm very particular about sandwich shops and tend to stick with more familiar places. I guess I should at least try it someday. I have a Firehouse Subs nearby and I know what to get there so I usually just stick with that.
BTW, is that Panera Bread at Midtown Village? There's a Chipotle, Wings U, Iguana Grille, and Taziki's Greek grill all right by each other at Midtown. I'd check those places out instead if you're ever in town and need a quick bite to eat.

Yes, that's where it is. I tried to push the Greek place Sunday night, but we ended up at the Japanese joint instead. The asparagus, veg sprung rolls and chicken wrap apps were good. Dumplings were mush and tasteless and the soft shell crab was too fishy to eat. No one oerter sushi. We justvshared a bunch of apps as the servings were generous.

The fam is fine. Maybe you'll run into some if them at the tailgate, this weekend. They'll feed and water you and the kids.

Thought you were giving me a hard time about my post yesterday.
Hey wait, of course that is what you were doing! You older sisters are tough.

I was making fun of the jerk in your thread. Who would be that way at a tailgate? I'd tell you to come to mine and just bring yourself and your peeps and enjoy.
