I hate the three Alabama picks. Not sure I'd have any of them in a top 25 list in the state much less a top 50 nationally.

No Central BBQ, and no Germantown Commissary

Yeah that’s a pretty big error.

But at least they had Cozy Corner. Probably my second favorite after Central.

Well at least they got #1 right! It should be a bucket list place for all BBQ aficionado's...8am opens should get there at 5 am to be sure of getting the best of the best!

Nice to see I can't buy a decent piece of smoked meat in Mississippi.

Dreamland at #3 is a joke. I think SL is still headquartered in Birmingham, so maybe they got paid off.

Truth is one of my top places. #46 on this list.

Still think Pinkertons is the better place in Houston.

Had Blood Bros (#41 on this list) for first time not too long ago and was not very memorable.

#42 hometeam isn't even close to top 10 in Charleston. The best thing they have is wings. Rodney Scott is good but ot top 10. Lewis is 10p% legit.

Have to agree with you. Only thing i get at Home Team is wings.

The original Scott’s BBQ in Hemingway is legit. Rodney Scott’s isn’t. Very disappointed, considering his family’s place in Hemingway. Most of his clientele consists of tourists and hipsters who don’t know better.

Neither Bessingers in Charleston should be on the list. They’re cheeseburgers > BBQ. The original Maurice Bessingers in Columbia, which was part of the family Piggy Park restaurants, used to be legit, but it’s been a few years since I’ve been there.

Lewis BBQ is on point.

Surprised to see my favorite GA 'que place on the list. #2 Fresh Air

It's great, just surprised it got noticed on a list like that.

Agree. I've been eating Fresh Air since I was a little kid. Family has had a place on the lake since the early 80s. It isn't for everyone, but it is a living example of do one thing and do it good.

I don't know why they put both Melvin's and Bessinger's in the list. They are basically the same food, just opposite sides of the Charleston peninsula. Could have included just one (or done them as a combined entry) and put someone else in there.

Also surprised that Sweatman's in Holly Hill isn't on there. It is (or was) the crown jewel of BBQ joints in SC and a pilgrimage for BBQ aficionados. Open only on Friday and Saturday, and at one time you went through a cafeteria style line to get your food, but that changed during/after COVID.

Bad Wolf in Ruston is easily the best BBQ in LA

I have not heard of this place but have you tried Gonzo’s? Just about any place is gonna have a hard time putting out a better product due to how he focuses on putting out such quality Q for just one day a week.

Right above Jay's BBQ. Those vinegar tasting beans at Jay's, WTF?

Gonzo's could be on that list.

If they'd open more than Fridays from 11-3 only. At least make it a Saturday thing.

I’m surprised too. Overrated for sure.

But lists like this are just clickbait. The guy that wrote this hasn’t even been to all the possible options.

The Texas places are about in line with local rankings. Snows has been #1 in Texas a few times.

Luling City Market is still my fav and the wait isn’t insane. Didn’t see it on list.

Snow's is freaking legit. Only 45 minutes from my house. Pick a Saturday and head through Caldwell and get Kolache's from Jake's, then on to Lexington for the BBQ. Both are the best.

Hites at number 16 tells me the judges have no clue. Hites sucks big time. BBQ has no flavor and their sauce is watered down.

When I saw Southern Living I burst out laughing. That rag is pure malarkey and has been for years. It's a joke on southern foods, recipes etc. A lot of Yankees eat it up. It's sad.

We went to Tuscaloosa in July to visit friends and I had to scratch the Dreamland itch because it had been years since I’d had it. The chicken halves and sausage were both better than the ribs. I was a little hurt. It used to be good years ago.

Just curious…Pecan Lodge (Dallas) used to be the hands down number one BBQ place on this board and a top 3 in Texas. What has happened in the last 5 years that they are not on this list?

I haven’t been in years. Have they closed?
