Not sure I have eaten chicken skin as a stand alone dish/app.
I haven't but man, that part is so freaking good. When I get fried chicken, I pull off the skin and roll it up, like you would with a big slice of salami or something.
Not sure I could handle that much for an entire meal but what I didn't eat, I'd sure save for later.

Bump
Tried this place last night. It was packed so we started at the bar while waiting for a table. A Parish Envy for me and a Mrs. Who got a sweet cocktail called A Night at the Opera. It was sweet so she liked it.
We were split on the appetizer and ended up ordering both the chicken skins and the cheese curds. They were both equally awesome.
For entrees our waitress recommended for our first visit to try the burger and the brisket tacos so we went with that. The portions for both were very generous and either could have been split between two people with a modest appetite. Mrs. Who could only finish half the burger and said it was very good. I nibbled at the fries that came with it and they were tasty in their own right.
I will definitely be going back for the brisket tacos. It is served with the components separated so that you make your taco tableside so you put however much of what you want into the taco. I am not much of a coleslaw guy but the slaw complimented the brisket perfectly. Also came with a bit of a chipotle sauce that I only put a little as it had a strong flavor that I didn't want to overpower the meat. The meat was very flavorful and most importantly it was moist. I made 4 tacos and still had meat left over.
We were very happy with everything we ordered and will be going back. Thanks to all who recommended this place.

Definitely agree on the tacos. I like how they let you build it yourself

Could easily see myself going again and getting just appetizers and drinks.
They're spot on.

Just curious... Was that tomato gravy on your biscuit or do they offer tomato gravy on the biscuit?

It was white sausage gravy. Not sure if they offer tomato gravy

went last night
they make excellent cocktails
we had chicken skins, truffle fries, shrimp tacos and chicken lettuce wraps
I really wasn't paying attention and thus everything we ordered was fried...took a bit away from the meal but that's my fault
everything was tasty but I found the proteins under seasoned and there's wasn't much excitement to the bites, again that may be my fault for ordering similar dishes.
we'll go back

Went today for brunch based on this recommendation. My notes:
1. The wait inside was about an hour. Instead we sat down right away on the 'bar' outside. Pleasant day although the interstate traffic makes for a loud atmosphere.
2. Waiter was active and attentive.
3. Menu is all over the place IMO. The only 'theme' is the biscuits and the different varieties they have.
4. We shared the chicken skins. Delicious. Nice sweet and spicy taste although I felt pretty disgusting eating them.
5. I got the shrimp and grits. Small portion and the shrimp were already peeled (i like mine larger and unpeeled...at least still on the tails). The bread was heavily salted and peppered. I had to bump some of it off as it was over powering. An above average shrimp and grits.
6. Wife got the cheddar biscuits and gravy with fried chicken. Pretty damn good.
7. Coffee was good. Had a slight 'tea' taste to it.
8. Didn't drink. Was too hung over.

I'm wondering why you prefer at least the tails on

It's probably not factual, but I get the sense that the shrimp are fresh and were just peeled and prepared that day. And my favorite shrimp dishes are served this way so maybe it's me wanting everyone to mimic their style. Think Mr. B's in New Orleans and their BBQ shrimp...freaking delicious.
Probably less applicable to shrimp and grits.

Having to pull tails off of a dish with sauce/salad dressing is a pet peeve of mine. Though I understand some dishes, such as BBQ shrimp, are much better when cooked with shells still on.

I've never seen shrimp unpeeled in shrimp and grits. That would be messier than BBQ shrimp.

I can't remember where but I've definitely gotten shrimp and grits with the shrimp peeled but with the tails still on. Easy to grab and pull meat out.

Then I take it you've never ordered the dish outside of a fast food restaurant. That's the only way I've had them served

Wouldn't it be wonderful to hear someone eating a burger and being able to taste what they are eating........the future, has many possibilities..
