What was the damage on the bill? Is it a casual brunch spot or more upscale?

They did the place up nice if you knew what it looked like before, but it is a bar as much as it is a restaurant (no kids after 5pm) so pretty casual. Good mixture of industry folks taking shots and after-church folks having brunch.

Bill was a little over $50 after tip. Not bad at all.

Love hitting the merchant when we can get to BR....solid review, and yeah, those curds and skins are delicious.

It was very preppy and yuppy, which is by no means a bad thing.

Sounds like you had a great experience there. I've been a few times now and I have never had anything great. Went with the GF one night for drinks and some apps. Got the Mac and cheese and it was very average. Next time we went for brunch and I got the burger that has gotten great reviews, but it was extremely bland... Drinks have always been great. Expensive, but that is to expect from a nicer place like that where I feel like I am paying for the experience as well. Food has just never really been good for me. Although these pics look fantastic.

Not sure if you tried it earlier when they were still working out some kinks. They've only been open for about a year so I'm sure they had some bumps.

For myself, we had a very good experience and I'm looking forward to trying dinner there and see how it compares to the brunch.

I only have great things to say about Merchant, except for the burger. I've had it twice. No seasoning or crust on the patty.

As good as Curbside is as far as their ingredients go, I've had the same experience there. I bet it is just hard to do a seasoned patty with a good sear when you're pumping them out to crowds.

I had the burger and thought it was alright, their beer list was really good though. I'd definitely go back.

Yeah, that's pretty much the top criteria in my book as well.

So they can charge 30% more than fries.

was informed it would be an hour to hour and half wait.

The one and only time I ever tried to go to this place, I was told the same thing. I laughed and left. I can't think of too many restaurants anywhere that would justify a wait like that.

Those chicken skins are legit. Hot sauce & honey with fried chicken of any kind is a great combination.

Just curious, has anyone tried their version of hot chicken? When we went for brunch we were told it was only available on their dinner menu.

Also, stay away from their BLT. It had 2-3 strips of bacon... kinda hard to justify when you can go across the street to City Pork and get one that has like 10 strips.

Agree on the burger but I don't find the place expensive at all. Not anywhere near the price of a place that I expect an "experience" at.

I'd stay away from the club sandwich at City Pork. The chicken was smoked so strong it was plain awful, and the bread sucked.

Mrs. Seymour and I went to The Overpass Merchant tonight. We had the chicken skins to start.

I didn't think to take a pic until we ate just about all of them. They were very crispy and coated with honey and hot sauce. Delicious.

I had brisket tacos for my entree.

The brisket was great but the slaw had a bit too much vinegar for my taste. I did love the presentation. Everything came separate, so you could make your own tacos and put as much of each ingredient as you wanted.

The missus had the Restaurant Week dinner (sorry I didn't take any pics of hers). She started with shrimp and corn bisque, which was probably the best thing we ate. Creamy and plenty of corn and shrimp, which were cooked perfectly. Her entree was Grits and grillades. Very tasty, but not enough grits.

Very good experience overall. Excellent beer menu, too.
