I'm tempted to follow the Korean church bus to see if one of the ladies in the bus will take me in for lunch. Maybe she'll have a cute granddaughter, too.

I had south korean friends when I was at LSU.
Every Friday night, they would put the hot pot in the middle with different cuts of meat and drink.
Man they can drink lot of alcohol.
Fun times. Friendly and fun loving people

Did you especially dig how the old dude would berate the kids who would come out and accompany him on his violin right there in the dining room while you were trying to eat?
By the way, if you’re ever passing through the area between Montgomery, AL and Lagrange, GA (between the Hyundai and Kia plants), pull of and hit up one of the Korean places that caters to their folks. They have several and they are all great.

That was the best part of the ambience. The kid would serve your dinner then get called somewhat irrately to rush to play an instrument.
The downtown spot in the old Sears building never captured fully the magic of the tulane Ave spot.
I miss La Riviera the most, but GK is up there.
Thats good info...I would have assumed that was a total dead spot for food.

May want to check with Nagoya on Sherwood. I remember seeing somewhere that they do a Korean BBQ

Not really BR area but Hammond has a Korean BBQ place, Le Saigon. They just opened a new location by the interstate.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions.
For those of you travelling to NYC, I suggest checking out 32nd St. between 5th and 6th Ave. There are a bunch of great Korean restaurants in that area. We like Miss Korea (the restaurant) a lot.

Any hints on where downtown? 3rd street? Near all of the state buildings on North Street or near the city buildings on North Blvd?

There's one on Sherwood Forest (old Nagoya place)

The Copeland’s on Essen was purchased and it was supposed to become a Korean BBQ. Not sure what happened with that.

Speaking of Copeland's. I wonder if this place is going in the former Copeland's Batch 13 on North and Lafayette.
Also, regarding 3rd street. Crazy how much has changed in the past year. Boudreaux and Thibodaux's moved down the street to the Lucy's spot and Happy's is shuttered (landlord/tenant issues). B&T's is now Somewhere Neighborhood Bar opened by the guy who is the GM of Capital City Grill. Roux House is now Mothers.
Bengal Tap Room is still going strong. And Squeaky Pete's must have made bank from being in that awful National Treasure series.

Yes but make it Korean BBQ

Plenty of them in Atlanta, if you are up this way. We even have a Korean taco place (Hankook Taqueria) that is pretty awesome.
Shoot, Auburn has at least half a dozen Korean places (pays to have a Kia plant nearby).

I thought the Ichiban owners were turning the former Copeland’s on Essen into a Korean BBQ restaurant

Yerin Korean Grill must have closed on Siegen
