Sushi Do's and Don'ts in Pictures

Sorry, but I dip my sushi into the soy/wasabi soup. That's 2 strikes against me in one.

I mix my wasabi and soy as well.
I use my fingers, but a lot of people don't realize this is perfectly acceptable. This is one of the reasons I'd never want sushi on a first date. Just what I need is some dude thinking I'm poor-mannered and trashy for using my fingers. Plus, a bite of sushi is a mouthful and not very graceful around someone you hardly know.

This seems to always start a war. Lets see what happens this time...

I don't eat it all in one bite. I don't get any enjoyment out of it if I'm cramming a giant hunk of rice and fish in my mouth. I'd rather bite it in half. That's why I hate those big specialty rolls, too.

I've gotten a lot of cheap chopsticks

Good sushi chefs should give you one bite portions.
I definitely hate the specialty rolls. They are fricking ridiculous. Stupid Americans.

Agree that the oversized rolls are disgusting. Sushi seems like a good first date...you can sort out the rubes from the soigné right off the bat. If he rubs his chopsticks together, it's over before it even begins. Lol.

Order chirashi; solve your oversized sushi roll problem.

DO: only order rolls covered in mayonnaise
DON'T: pay less than $80 for your meal

Like your disgusting Mexican street corn, ro?
Posted on 4/12/15 at 7:59 pm to Rouge
Yes, ears of corn bought 3 for 99 cents is the same as covering $15 raw fish in a mayonnaise based sauce.

Sushi is ridiculously overpriced ..
Posted on 4/12/15 at 8:18 pm to TigahRag
Yes, because like the current donut craze and the cupcake one before that, eating sushi has turned into an "event." Something you partake in in order to say that you did, not because of relative inherent quality or value.

I love sushi but I haven't had any in three years. It was never an event -- I'm plenty happy to eat it by myself. Is there anything better than fresh scallop or urchin with a quail egg on top?
I dislike beignets, burgers, and yogurt.

That's fine (and I do like sushi), but there's a line between quality sushi and a lot of the overpriced crap thrown out there by places like Sake where it's snow crab drenched in various sauces. The things you named are not indicative of most places in town.
