Came across a 12pack for $3.99 at the market last week.. stated on the can 'the beer that made Milwaukee' and 'taste the #1 beer from the 60s'

needless to say, it was terrible. but kinda knew that going in. followed it with miller lite and got hungover.

p.s. - been drinking Bass lately. shite is awesome.

I saw some Schlitz too the other day and only thought about buying it.

Bass is some good stuff!

It was the #1 back in the 60's/early 70s until surpassed by Bud. Gotta remember though, back in the 60's you didnt have 1,489 choices like you do know.

Schlitz was the first beer I ever tried. We found an unopened can in the woods around my house when I was about 13. Drank it warm. Mmmmmmm good.

I always drink Schlitz when I'm fishing. It's one of those beers that kind of tastes like body odor, and, for some strange, unknown reason, I like it.

good mammories of sipping from my dad's Schilitz can as a kid when grilling back in the 60's. It was terrible and cool at the same time. later learned to kite his Kents and Salems.

Schlitz is no longer brewed in Milwaukee and the recipe has changed, so it's not going to be the same as in the 60. Pabst is no longer there either.

I actually really enjoy the 1960s formula Schlitz it's my favorite "cheap beer" much better than miller, bud, and coors or even pabst maybe bc I like drinking something that actually has a little crisp malty taste to it.

Oh this brings back childhood memories. The days of Sunday travelling from Shreveport to Bossier just so my dad could be some beer. Schiltz was his brand. Did have a local mom/pop store in Shreveport that would brownbag the sixpack to sneak it out of store.

Mom used to drink Schlitz before switching to Shaeffer Light and now drinks Natty Light. All are equally bad IMO.

Yep, those were the good ole days when you could make good money in Shreveport selling beer on Sundays.

I kept them in business when I was a lot younger. Then PBR and Bud. Now Miller Lite (no class now).

Do they still sell Country Club in the litle short (6 oz?) cans. Drank about a million of them.

Had a college prof way back when who kept a case of Jax in trunk of his mustang. It might be 100 degrees out and at about 4:00 pm he would go out pop a top on a hot beer and drink it leaning against the trunk of his car in Faculty parking lot.
