It's about time Laffy catches up to Shreveport.

This. While Saltgrass won't be confused with Top Steakhouses in America restaurants, it's in a whole higher league than TX Roadhouse.

I don't think anyone is saying it will compete with Charlie G's or Ruth's Chris. Just stating that it is superior to Longhorn's and Texas Roadhouse in taste and quality. It ain't a 10, but it's a 7 in a room full of 5's.

I ate at a Saltgrass a few years ago for lunch on the way to a wedding in TX. I wasn't expecting much, but I had a couple of apps with fresh jumbo lump crabmeat which were more generous than expected and pretty good. Others had burgers and sandwiches they liked. It was a much better stop for lunch than many of the options off the interstate. Served the purpose well.

It's a Landry's Inc restaurant, when/where/price point is Tx Roadhouse, Longhorns, Outback, but my experience is it is better than those three. It's nothing groundbreaking for Laffy, but if you're out and about it's better than the two already mentioned.

Better than outback for sure, same level as longhorn and Texas Roadhouse IMO. Maybe a little better, but not III forks or Del Frisco's as some on this board seem to think.

Rating by Quality
Saltgrass
Longhorns
Texas Roadhouse
Outback

I think Saltgrass is more expensive that Longhorns, so I'm not sure I would prefer it over Longhorns if I were buying. It wasn't like it was on another level.

A few years back I was on a week long assignment at a place 20 or so miles west of Beaumont. I got damn tired of the local places after three nights and was pretty happy to walk into a Saltgrass in Beaumont on night four.
Never been back to one since then, but it was a pretty good place all things considered.

Won't be the best steak you've had in your life, but you won't be disappointed. As others have said, definitely one of the better chains. Beer bread they serve to the table is great

I have only been once and it is miles ahead of Santa Fe Cattle Co. that was thinking about moving into that spot.
