Cajun Tale's in Welsh, LA.
Daigle's sausage kitchen in Welsh,LA
Cajun Tale's still has my favorite cajun fries. Burgers, gumbo, and fried shrimp are good as well. Lunch buffet is usually good as well, great on fried chicken day.
Daigle's has excellent plate lunches and it's also a meat market. I'm pretty sure they still do beef tongue on Thursdays. Good breakfast including homemade kolatches.

Wonder if this map could be added to the dining guide in some way?

Was wondering if they were still open. My mom's from Welsh, and when we were huddled there after Katrina, we ate a bunch of their fried catfish buckets.
Is Stroye's Sausage still gone? That was what we called "Welsh Sausage" growing up, and I still crave it. Closest I've had to it is the whole hog sausage patties from Cracker Barrel.

I may know your mom. Not like it's a big town . And sadly Stroie's never came back to my knowledge.

My mom is 89 and grew up on the corner of S Adams and Powers, across Powers from the church.

Well I'm in the later half of my 20s and haven't lived there since I was 18. Better chance I know who you are than her I know the house though. Anyway, don't wanna hijack the thread anymore.

So basically there's nothing much on I-90 coming out of Nawlins.

WTF why did someone delete Spahr's?

It's US 90, not I-90....and it wasn't fully finished & four-laned until the 1970s...long stretches of it are completely empty & run through near wetlands. It's a bypass road--most of the towns are off of present US 90 on "old" 90, now numbered 182. Plenty of good food exists, but you're going to have to go looking for it.
In Jeanerette, for example, you can hit the Yellow Bowl (claims to be one of the first places to put crawfish etouffee on the menu) and Lejeune's bakery...but neither one is directly on 90.

Looks like it was listed twice, are there two locations or is one in the wrong place?
Posted on 8/20/14 at 10:14 am to wickowick
There actually 3 I believe. I placed the original location (Des Allamends) initially but it was gone when I looked today. Re-added
