my girl doesn't drink beer, but that doesn't mean I never go to Avenue Pub. what about a bro date bro?

On my last visit, I noted that the portion size was much smaller than other times I had visited, and I felt the $8.50 was pricey for the amount given. But I thought maybe it was a fluke because I had had it several times before and it was never that small. But like I said, I love it, so I ordered it again.

not to hijack your thread, but I said the EXACT same thing about Maurepas but got drilled by the F&D Board because it's so popular....I swear small plate portions were half the size of my previous visits...will not be going back.

I spoke with a manager last night and she talked with the kitchen manager who said that a new person had been put on that station. When they looked into some of the pre-weighed and wrapped portions, a bunch of them were half the size that they should've been. So that's been cleared up.

She's also going to handle the waiter's unresponsiveness to the situation.

She was very thankful that I called to let her know.

With that in mind, I'd bump my rating up to 3-3.5 stars because I did still have issue with the portion sizes of other items...like $5 for literally 3 bites of roasted veggies.

I think small plates are the biggest rip-off ever. You get 1/4 the size of an entree and you're usually paying 50% the cost of an entree (in most cases). I love the small plates at Apolline because they're a great deal! $6 for a small plate with 2 grilled scallops, a grilled shrimp and corn mac choux. $6 for 3 BBQ shrimp over grits.

Very nicely handled on both ends

It's odd that nobody in the kitchen or server noticed this before it was served.

Judging from the waiter's reaction, it seems no one cared enough to either notice or do anything about it.

We live really close to it, and if I'm going with a bro, I'm going elsewhere, for something I can never get with my wife, like BBQ or burgers or something.

I wouldn't have expected the server to notice because he was clueless. What's worse was that when it was pointed out to him, he didn't care.

That's the frustrating part. Makes you want to give em a swift kick in the arse.

I was using Ave Pub as an example .. meaning just because your wife doesn't like something doesn't preclude you from ever eating there again.

I used to always eat at the bar there and always had positive experiences

The few times I have been were solo lunches at the bar. All positive experiences. The portions are on the small end of the spectrum, but the food is always good. Quantity/quality to price seems about right to me. Good lunch size, for sure.
