I finally found really good pizza in Baton Rouge! Just left Grimaldi's by the Mall of Louisiana, and I got to say that was what I've been looking for, thin crust NY style pizza.

I've heard mixed reviews on Grimaldi's; it seems like people either love it or hate it. I've also heard that it's quite expensive (and that they charge out the arse for extra toppings and even extra sauce) and not very filling.

I love NY/Connecticut pizza so I'm sure I'd love it. Unfortunately many people down here were raised on commercialized garbage and places like Pastime (!) and have no idea what good pizza is.

Heck, Zuppardi's sent down their food truck from New Haven last year for the NOLA FoodFest and it was ten times better than any pizza I've ever had in BR. Their white clam pizza with garlic was stellar.

I like it, but not as much as some people. To be fair, I've only had it once. My favorite pizza in NO is probably Ancora.

Actually never had Ancora. My favorite used to be Cafe Nino's (RIP!).

I love Domenica/Pizza Domenica/Wood too, but that's a whole different kind of pizza.

One of the main ideas behind pizza is it being a relatively inexpensive way to feed several people. Grimaldi's is fine, but they forgot the cost of living, and relative incomes, are a bit different in the South vs. Manhattan.

That's in my neck of the woods -- I'll have to check it out. I actually liked Mama Della's, but he just couldn't overcome his bad rep for lack of interpersonal skills. I'd've been frustrated if I were him, too, with people in this town trying to tell him how to make a pizza.

Shame on me. The fam stopped in there one night when they 1st opened... And actually liked the pizza.... But havent been back. Must not have left nuch of an impression, but I definately liked the pizza. Just confirmed it w my wife when I asked her if she had heard of the place "We Ate THERE!" She exclaimed.

Bummer. Will have to make a point to go back... Sucks for small business owners when they have a good product, people like it, but dont put it on their rotation to return.

I also like Venezia's pizza, mainly bc it reminds me of the pizza I grew up eating in PA.

For the Houston posters, just saw where Grimaldi's is coming to the Baybrook Mall expansion sometime this spring. Will have to check it out.

I enjoyed the pie when I went. The service, however, was lacking.

I love their food, however I tend to forget about it. Their meatball sandwich is fantastic.
