I shucked oysters at home once and I noticed some orange bits in a few of them. Almost looked like lobster roe. To my surprise, the orange blobs unfurled their legs and started walking around my counter...crabs!

Eaten many at restaurants, and shucked a few dozen at home. Never seen that before.
I'm gonna keep on eating them.

Oyster crabs. I've eaten my share.
The worms are harmless. Just chew well.

Drill worms. They are very common during the summer months. Auburn is currently conducting experiments on them. Techniques are used in farm raised oysters that almost eliminate them.

I found one while eating at a restaurant, showed the waitress and she said that they try to get all those out before serving them. That answer didn't sit well with me at the time but after asking several people, one of which was a marine biologist whose specialty was gulf oysters, they all said it was common and not to worry about it.

Just extra protein. Chase with a bit of tequila and you'll be fine

As most have said those worms and crabs are super common. Keep on eating
