I don't like the idea of Ruth's prices on picnic tables in jeans But I see the appeal for that style of food.
Just left Doe's last night. It was awesome again. No where close to Ruth's prices. I can't get out of Ruth's for less than $150 a couple. Doe's last night was $90 for two people. Got a 2 1/2 pound ribeye that was cooked perfectly with their great fries, some drinks, salads and 1/2 dozen tamales.

I'm gonna have to give Doe's another shot. I went a few years back and it was nothing like the original. I just wish they had a NY strip.

You can't go wrong with stroubes either, especially if you are staying downtown.
I agree with this. If you're staying downtown and looking for a nice dinner with drinks and steak as an option, Stroube's is an excellent choice.

Louisiana Lagniappe has terrific steaks. I recommend the Tournedos

The few times I have been to does the steaks were great. Not really an atmosphere place, but great for client dinners.
ETA: probably depends on the clients, I deal with a lot of petrochem guys.

My wife and I went and split the 2 1/2 lb. sirloin. It just wasn't a very good steak.

The Sumo Ribeye at Tsunami is very good and you can't beat the atmosphere.

I've been there twice and both times I've left disappointed. My steak was always overcooked and the waitstaff was terrible. IMHO, It's definitely not worth the price. If someone wanted to take me there and pay for my dinner, I'd probably go back but I don't think I'd spend my own money there again.

If your steaks were overcooked, I don't blame you for having that opinion. In my mind there is no excuse for overcooked steaks.

Yeah, my GF's $30 8 oz filet cooked to damn near well when asked for med rare kinda pissed me off as well as the $50 porterhouse that was about 70% well and 30% med well.

I've only had one mis-cooked steak at Doe's, and it was woefully undercooked, not overcooked.
I like them medium rare, and this wasn't even rare, it was still raw and cold in the middle. They had no problems bringing it to the correct temperature though.

Well, that's an easy fix. Unfortunately, I didn't have that option and I wasn't going to wait another 45 mins for another one.
I'm sure other people have had great experiences there and I'm not sure if I just caught them on a few bad nights, but I don't think I'll give them anymore of my money in the future.

I can vouch for those, they're legit.
