Doe's looks more regional, like Copeland's, which is cool.

Didn't mean to sound like a douche in my OP. I'm fine with chains. I was just fishing for things I haven't heard about. And Doe's fits that bill. And I love a porterhouse.

Did I mention that we'll be drinking while we're there as well?

Mansur's serves steak. Not sure what cuts and I don't order them, but you can fill up on the best chargrilled oysters in town making the trip well worthy.

Galatoire's serves a filet and a ribeye with bearnaise and bordelaise. I never order meat there, though, but I would expect it to be above average, plus there are so many other good items on the menu.

Any reason your limiting yourself to steak?

Louisiana is not a great state for drinking.

My brother loves steak. I go straight for crawfish and LA staples.

We loved Mansur's. Been twice, but for lunch. Actually, that's the kind of place that really fits the bill. He can get a steak and I can tear into some oysters. Their fried catfish was really good, too.

I was super-excited when Doe's opened in BR, because I really like the original in Greenville. I left extremely disappointed, and haven't been back.

Beausoleil is damn good. I got a skirt steak when we went there for Restaurant Week a couple of months ago - it was OK. You're better off getting stuff like the rabbit, the fish or the short ribs.

Weird concept, steak and hot tamales. The one Laffy closed in 3 months or less.

Jones despises it, and I am not keen on the idea of it either, but I do know everyone thinks it's delicious.
And the bartender is one of the best in BR.

I don't like the idea of Ruth's prices on picnic tables in jeans But I see the appeal for that style of food.

Was kinda disappointed in my last steak at Ruffinos. Was pretty thin for a ribeye and just didnt warrant the price they ask. The potatoes that came with it were awful.

Only had La Lagniappe once and my entree was meh but my friends shrimp and grits were really good. The crab claw app was awesome.

As ive said on here many times, Doe's is a waste of money

I have a feeling the aged steak at Ruffino's is as awesome as people say, though.

I'd definitely suggest trying it out because I want to try it out.

OP: If you're looking for a place with an outstanding steak, but you can still get something else, I agree with Mansur's or Ruffino's.

What about that place in Central?

Stabs I think?

It's not too far of a drive.

I have not been but I have heard it's pretty good.

Ate lunch at Stab's in a large group in May. No steaks ordered, but everyone really enjoyed their meals. The patio with the lighted fountain is very very nice and, right now, it would be a nice setting for dinner and drinks. I hope to go back.

My last couple of visits to Ruffino's were disappointing. One was the limited Sunday brunch, and the couple of different things we ordered just weren't very good...Ruffino's needs to be more consistent.

Has anyone mentioned Louisiana Lagniappe yet?

I hear ya. I was shocked at how much they charge for their pork chops. The entree with two porkchops is something like $40
