Mother, two sisters, and their two kids (almost two and four) are coming down for my birthday in two weeks. What kid friendly suggestions do you all have? I listed out Kenton's, Annunciation, Apolline, Cavan, Dante's, or Dick & Jenny's just to throw out a few but the wife said those probably wouldn't work. What say you all?

Depends on the kids. Pizza Domenica seems to be a rug rat hang out these days.

Dick and Jenny's might work on that list.

I've taken my kids to Clancy's Galatoire's, Brennan's, Commanders etc. with no problem They are all loud and you can bring crayons or the dreaded ipad.

I think this is the biggest factor. As long as the place is loud no one will care. Just don't let the kids run up to other tables and no one will notice.

Good point. Just have to go somewhat early in case the almost two year old is cranky.

I think Domenica downtown would work, also, but I believe it's closed for a week or two for some renovations, so check the date it's going to be open again.

Ye Olde College Inn would work also. It's casual and we enjoyed our meals there very much. I saw a number of families with kids in there.

I've seen plenty of kids in Arnaud's if you go traditional old New Orleans. They love the souffleed potatoes.

I agree that if you're in a loud restaurant, you're fine. If one of them gets too cranky, you simply have to step outside. The other option is to find a sitter for them if the adults want to have a meal without the kids.

I know it's Tuesday, but I must still have the Monday blurs because I didn't get the joke!

Don't a lot of restaurants "close for renovations" or add "gratuity policies " around Essence Fest? Maybe it just always lines up that way because it's hot as frick down here and people aren't going out to eat. I thought this was a running joke, but somewhat truism.

My kids loved the mac and cheese at cochon. Went in the late afternoon and it was fine.

I've read that on here before, but I forgot that was even coming up. This is what Alon wrote on his FB page.

@domenicarestaurant will be closed until July 6th for maintenance and renovations. We're installing sound absorption panels to quiet things down but also bringing the noise with some fun new menu items! See you then!

There are a fair number of places that do this, absolutely.
