I have had this hand-me-down for a good 3 or 4 years, its been pretty awesome. I make a smoothie 3 or 4 days week. Not looking to buy $400 vitamix just to make a banana, spinach and blueberry smoothie but I would like high quality one. Anyone have in recommendations?

You'll find one just like it, or even one of the original chrome ones, at almost every garage sale for just a few bucks.

I use my Bamix immersion blender for smoothies--you can make 'em right in the cup. Not cheap, but very useful...and cheaper than a Vitamix or Blendtec. Chops ice, frozen fruit, etc. Way easier to clean than a blender, too. [link=(Bamix)]https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/bamix-immersion-blender/[/link]

I've heard great things about this one. Looks to be a decent deal on Amazon. I'd go 1100 watt with single serve for 5 dollars more.

When my cuisinart one broke, I went with the Breville based on good reviews I researched. It has been superb for me. Blends ice very smoothly, and I have had no issues with burning plastics or smells. I highly recommend it, though I don't use it as much as you do.

My suggestion is, since you use this thing that much, it is worth the investment towards a vitamix. The value of a product correlates to your usage IMO. You run that thing a lot, so invest in one that will be great and last

In 10 years you'll buy 3 $150.00 sub par blenders when you can have the best for the same price (Vitamix). It's like people who by Poulan/Ryobi/Bolens/Weedeater et al... brand string trimmers b/c they don't want to spend $400 on a real machine (Shindaiwa). They end up buying 4 or more in a 10 year period and they are shite when they could have purchased the best for that price and it would still be ripping along, all while working effortlessly in a 1/4 of the time. Good luck !

The more I look into it that probably what I am going to do. I need to make my blender work just because I been blowing cash lately.

You won't regret it. When you see these threads after you purchase it you'll realize you should have done it long ago. Buy it online if possible or thru QVC etc..., they have good deals.

Wait until this one goes on sale for about $350-$375. The 48oz fits under the counter.

My $26 dollar Oster has lasted over 6 years of making smoothies 3-4 times a week with no issues. I don't understand the need for expensive blenders.

We had a KitchenAid for about 5-6 years. It finally crapped out on me a few months ago. As big and heavy as it was, I didn't think it would wear out so soon. We bought a Ninja, and it works so much better. It was $100 at BBB, and I used one of the 17 or so 20% off coupons they send to my house each month. It doesn't have as many speed options as the KitchenAid had, but all I really need is a low and a high. The blade pops out for washing. And the lid clamps into place, so no more messes from the lid coming loose like on other blenders. Plus the blade is taller and has 3 sets of blades on it, so it doesn't take as long to blend the whole pitcher up.

I got a Blendtec just recently and love it. Has a one touch smoothie button that makes perfect smoothies every time. Also has a clean cycle that makes cleaning it easy. With the 20% BBB coupon I think it was around $300.

How about $250?

I've had this Blendtec for a few weeks now, and it's awesome. 7 year warranty even for the refurbished, significantly less expensive than the Vitamix with the same performance (my ex had a VM), doesn't have PTFE shedding issues like the Vitamix does, easier jar to get remnants out of (flat sides) and fits under countertops.
