My first trip to Peche (W/ pics)

Definitely lived up to expectations. I had a 6:00 Saturday reservation that I had made on Tuesday. Some poor sap walked in before me and asked for a table. "I won't have a table available for four hours, but if you wait you can probably find a seat at the bar in an hour or so." Damn!
Started with Marinated crab claws. Most places seem to have much thicker, more buttery marinade. But that was not the case. Very light type of oil and some subtle flavor underneath it. The mint was a great touch. They were delicious.
My wife ordered a small plate. The crab & jalepeno capellini and a side of White beans with bacon. The beans had a GREAT smoky flavor in them. They almost tasted like BBQ white beans. Were very good. And the capellini was also very good. Lump crab meat and jalepeno tossed in angel hair.
And I went for the special. Cobia Collar. My first time having either Cobia, or a collar, and neither dissapointed. Just slightly more oily than most fish I order, but I wasn't sure if that was a function of the fish or the cheek. Still, the flavor was incredible. I was very impressed with it. The green sauce was just mashed greens. I found it nice for the texture difference, but it didn't do anything (positive or negative) for the flavor of the fish.
We also each had an "Angry Pirate" for a cocktail, and had a very nice walk after dinner. Damn it was good to be home! It's been way too long. Just under $100 and worth every penny.

That collar is great.
If you eat Japanese, order the Hamachi kama. Also collar and it's usually cheap because no one orders them

Don't care. I got no shame. I prefer Rum, and that was the item on the menu with Rum.
I also discovered Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan this weekend, "where have you been all my life?", but thats a whole different thread.

Peche is one of those places where you can eat high-quality, chef-crafted food and it won't break your wallet.

Never had collar, is it the throat? If so I have had redfish throats (of which we called marsh quail) and they were flippin amazing. Definitely would like to try some of that cobia collar

Peche is my favorite restaurant. Next time try the beef tartar. shite is AMAZING. Had the crab capellini for lunch last week. Just got back on the menu for crab season. Today they also had a crab salad, on top of marinated cucumbers, with roasted sesame seeds and some other shite on top. It was awesome.

I never seem to hit when the collar is available. Had whole speckled trout with lemon butter and roasted or fried capers today among other things. Outstanding.

$100? I can go to some non "fancy schmantzy" restaurant and get an equal meal for a third of that price. And, I won't have to wear a jacket.

You're better than that.
And I was wearing a polo.
