Soggy bun ruined it for me. Can't say that the patty was good or bad because the bun was so bad.

Don't know anything about Mooyah. But to say a burger is a burger is just not true. When you step up to Cowbell, Company Burger, La Petite Grocery and High Hat (among others), it's worth the extra couple of bucks.

Sure .. there's a difference between a typical fast food burger and those places .. But i just don't find a massive difference from place to place once you get to that level .. It all depends on what toppings you put on what burger at what place .. The quality of bread is probably more important than the meat ..

This thread made me crave a burger so I went to Burgersmith today for the first time. It was on point. The patty was extremely well seasoned. I like pepper and it had a lot of it, maybe too much for some people but perfect for me.

I loved Cheeburger Cheeburger because you could get a giant hamburger with any of a million toppings on it. Or just bacon.

VOR drilled the nail in the coffin. Excluding LPG because of the high prices, i can name about 50 more places with better burgers for 2-3 more dollars

Yup. A few months ago. Apparently they were going downhill, and then got new management and really slipped. Hated to see them go.

In Baton Rouge, Flemings HH $6 burger, Barcadia burger, Mason's burger, and Portabello's burger are all vastly different than Mooyah.

And that's coming from someone who loves a good shitpile burger like Mooyah serves.

There's burgers for when you're craving a mess and thin meat and tons of toppings.. And then there's burgers like the ones I listed above that focus on quality ingredients, preferred cook time, and minimal toppings.

It's not that difficult to make a great burger at home. Here I used half Angus ground chuck/half ground pork and seasoned with kosher salt and black pepper and cooked in a hot cast iron past. Put that on a pretzel bun (my wife's favorite) and dressed the way I like. Easy and delicious.
