This beats the monthly "best burger" thread.

Salsa is what makes or breaks a place for me....
I can't stand El Paso because of their salsa so I won't even step inside one.
Most of the food is generic tex-mex and the margaritas all taste the same eventually, but the salsa can stand out.

ElPaso

Sometimes it is off a little, but most of the time I like it.

1. Rum House
2. El Paso
3. Las Palmas
4. La Carreta
5. On the Border
6. Fernandos
7. Mi Padres
8. Chilis
9. Superior
10. Everyone else
Honorable mention: Velvet Cactus

I've never been to Nandos. Any good?

La Carrieta and Las Palmas I've always enjoyed, Superior has never been bad. El Paso just is not salsa to me, it is just tomatoes cut up and placed in a bowl

Perhaps that's why I like it. Rum House is chunky hence #1 in my book. Whether that's Mexican or not doesn't really matter to me.

Los Reyes has excellent food, including salsa. It's at the top of my list for BR texmex. Also the hummus with pico in it is amazing.

Saritas has now opened in Denham near Bass Pro, if you like cilantro, then you will like this salsa. Everything on their menu is good, I will put their beef fajitas against anyone in town.

Compared to what?? Superior?
$12-18 plates is absurd for any Mexican restaurant.

Place in Ascension near the Ford dealership is more expensive than Las Palmas and not that much better. Same with Agave Blue near Gold's Gym

I've found El Paso to be reasonable and good.
Girlfriend and I can both drink there for $30. Same with Rum house on Tuesday, but if that's not considered Mexican I understand.

Nandos anyone?

I've never been to Nando's so I can't comment...
El Paso the only issue is the salsa, I enjoy the cheap margaritas
I always ended up getting the queso when I go because I hate the salsa

How is Velvet Cactus doing? Don't live in BR but went once when it first opened and enjoyed. Thought it was a cool concept and hoped it had staying power.
