Salsa is what makes or breaks a place for me....
I pretty much judge a Mexican restaurant solely on their chips n salsa, with the salsa carrying much more weight than the chips.

First post, buy long time lurker. Los Reyes was Honduran, but has been closed for at least a month.

Place in Ascension near the Ford dealership is more expensive than Las Palmas and not that much better.
That's Mi Padres
Agave Blue is better than Mi Padres as is La Carreta

Why did Mi Padre's change its name from Papacito's?

Saritas has now opened in Denham near Bass Pro, if you like cilantro, then you will like this salsa. Everything on their menu is good, I will put their beef fajitas against anyone in town.
That place was rocking as a mexican buffet.

I'll tell you who DOESN'T have the best Salsa.
Velvet Cactus.

Agree to disagree on that one. Mi Padres is my go too - unless that was strictly a ranking on salsa.

I've tried Velvet Cactus twice and both meals weren't anything special. Dried out fajitas, bad salsa, shite burritos

On the Border has the best salsa IMO. I buy it in tubs from them for tailgating.
Only thing I'll eat there.

Whatever happened to Dos Hermanos? That place was decent back in the early 2000's and had good salsa.

I like the outdoor area at Velvet and that is it

It's not in Baton Rouge, but Que Pasa in St. Francisville has the best salsa I've tasted in Louisiana since one of the choices at Vaqueros in NOLA during the 1990's. Full of cilantro and bright, pleasantly acidic. I'd drink it.

California hippies and not a Mexican in the place.
