Sign said they were closed and on vacation until July 16. Ole barry was sitting at the bar chatting it up with some other guy, doors locked and lights off.
Is this the beginning of the end?

He is headed back home to see his Mama Della. Don't know why he can't trust someone to run it for him.

Same reason you cannot get what you want on his "specialty pies"

He hired a lady to run the front, and Brandon (his employee with the yankees baseball cap) makes a FAR better pie than Barry himself. If it was me, I'd stay home or in the back, and let Brandon run the kitchen. Kid is fast and damn good. I'd hire him any day of the week to run any of my places.

Never needed Robert to begin with; product was already great. I could have solved his problem for free. Hire some cute, friendly LSU girls to run the front, while he stays in the back and doesn't interact with any customers. Problem solved.

in addition, I don't know if I've seen smaller words on a restuarant sign in my life. They need a logo redesign that is attractive and professional looking. The outside of the place is not appealing. And, I've had zero desire to ever go despite passing by several times.

Good point

Management needs to involve letting the Brandon dude go at it.

While he's away, I say we paint the joint and add some nice shrubbery. Who's with me?!

You still wouldn't have solved the problem. The actual problem is that the place has no identity and doesn't fit at its location.

1. This isn't NYC, or hell, even to an extent, NOLA, where people generally walk to grab a quick slice of pizza for lunch. Very few people in that area are going to go out of their way to grab a slice or two.

2. What is it? It isn't a pizza joint that also doubles as a bar/lounge ala Pastime or Fleur-de-lis. It really isn't even a place like Red Zepplin or Rotollos where you can go drink and hangout on a patio. People in BR want their pizza in two ways: A) at home via delivery (Papa Johns, Domino's, etc.), B) at a place that is as much a bar as a restaurant. Mama Dellas provides neither.

Maybe in a better location it would work, but not in an old Schlotsky's Deli that can be difficult to get in and out off. The pizza is good, but the place has no character.

I thought the problem was that he actually has a personality that's awful.

Hellll NO!
I grew up in the pizza biz with a lot of other posters on here, over 10 years. I've developed such a bad allergy/sensitivity to flour, I don't think I could ever do a pizza place if I wanted to. Tossing the dough keeps me constantly sick. I never realized how bad it was until after I left that job, and felt so much better.

My main point was just how stubborn he is. He refuses to change. Irvine came in and ripped him a new one for 2 days, told him what he needs to do to succeed, but he's so stubborn that he's going to fail again.

I know. I was funnin' ya.

The guy is apparently a stubborn old grouch. One way or the highway and he's headed for the highway.
