Urban south only makes a few beers. I wouldn't compare them to NOLA just yet. I wasn't a big fan of their Holly Roller IPA either. May need to try some of their variations at their tap room.

NOLA does need to step up their hoppy beer game. Mecha and Hopitoulas need some work. Rebirth is descent for what it is.

i guess where i draw the line is between a brewery's every day offerings versus specialties. Their core brands are along the worst out there, however they do sell very well in new orleans.

but yeah, Tin Roof is also hiring a new head brewer in addition to the new guy.

NOLA has a lot of stuff in their taproom I find better than Urban South.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rusted Rye year-round as well.

I thought it was year round.

It was originally intended to be a seasonal... but so was Turnrow, so that might change.

It's definitely my favorite on tap currently.

I am curious to see what Southern Craft has next or if they will be changing the recipe on the two beers they have.

I had a reworked Mecha last week at the brewery that was good granted it was a day old. Not GiTM good but better than before.

Also had pineapple Hollyroller and Grapefruit Hollyroller at Urban South. Really liked the grapefruit but the pineapple was to heavy on the sweet side. They are no where near the level of NOLA at this point and both need to improve their IPAs IMO.

They had a honey ale, or honey lager... something light with honey at Nottoway.

i couldn't disagree any more. To me, hopitoulas and rebirth are undrinkable. The wit isnt my favorite but its a cool style, a wit with saison yeast. I think holy roller is a pretty solid everyday ipa, and the new seasonal is good too.

Apparently redstick rye isn't performing well in the market.

whoa, fresh rebirth is one of my favorite canned beers, an easy drinker.

I've had Holy Roller and it is good but not sure 1 beer makes them better than Nola, which has several offerings and like other said, their sour series is great.

Have you tried Goin Coastal from Sweetwater? Not sweet and the pineapple is subtle.

So Urban South has 4 different beers now?
I had Holy Roller at Avenue which was the only Urban South beer they had at the time.

I had Hollyroller, pineapple HR, Grapefruit HR, and the Wit. They also had a lemonade and a Brett-ish HR on tap the other day.

They have 15 listed on untapped so that is a lot more than I expected.

I was planning on this being my go to beach vacation / poolside IPA but can't ever find it in cans.
