Wow, you have a ton of options. I would start by picking an area of town first.

Haha. Thanks. I am 30 and lived in the Metro area my whole life outside of my time in college and never heard of 95% of the places being named.
Really happy I started this thread though because I was on the fence about doing it because I never visit this board.

Yea I hear you, one of my yearly goals is to try at least one new bar and restaurant every month. I even get my parents out of their same routine, I always ask them if they have been places and they're like actually no we haven't lets go or no it's been years but we used to love that place etc.
Also check out Moscas if you have never been. Awesome.
What area do you live in? University, Mid City etc, will help people give you some good spots.

I have eaten at all of those ... Mesquite is another regular place we go to a ton. I love that place.

Don't forget the Bywater area: Maurepas, Booty's and Mariza's are three really good restaurants that are relatively inexpensive.

Welcome to the board.
It looks like you ate at alot of chains, so step one is to please stop doing that. Too many good restaurnats around here to be eating at Outback, Copelands and stuff like that.
Already tons of good places have been listed.
My go to places for casual date night restaurants with the wife are cafe degas, vincents in Metairie, and the hidden gem Sandros(great Italian place in strip mall across from Lafranier Park).
If you like steak, you have to try La Boca. This is a little bit of an unconvential steak place with great odd cuts of meat.

Have to add Pelican Club to the list because of their summer special of 3 courses for $35.

I'll help you out.
Mayas.
Your friends and family will not have heard of it either and will praise you for finding this "hidden gem"

Make a new "house rule"....no more chains.
Toups' Meatery, on Carrollton
Gracious Bakery (wonderful sandwiches, open on Sat lunch)
Churros Cafe (in Metry near Clearview) for a cuban sandwich
Pho Orchid (very near Churros)
Little Chinatown (Williams in Kenner)
Norma's Sweets (off Williams, cuban sandwich and tamales on the weekends)
Siamese Thai (same strip mall as Tiffin Inn)
How about Pollo Campero in Kenner for your next fast food fix? Those yuca fries are damn tasty.
