Grand Isle doesn't have much but I know a place. Hit me up when you get there.

When I retire my plans are to head north to route 66 and then turn west, stopping in California with a trip of however long it takes me to get there.

Have the vehicle, Have the money. I have lived my entire married life with the one (MHNBPF) who will happily go with me. We will stay where we get to each day.

My plans are to have Sonic Burgers and TaterTots as many times as possible on that trip and Mom and Pop bars, BBQ and burger joints the rest of the time.

Crowpeak is in Spearfish and is legit. Their 11th hour ipa and porter are good.

Bitter Esters in Custer is pretty decent. They have their own stuff and guest taps.

For food, Dough Trader Pizza, Killians Tavern (good beer selection too)

Tator Tots are big here in Portland. They deep fry 'em so they are crispy on the outside and tender inside. If you season them well, they are awesome...

ETA: Ham, What's the road trip for?

I've never been to those places but having been to most of Utah, you're looking at burgers, steaks and good breakfasts in those areas.

What I did was fish and cook the various trout back at the campsite. Bring along your seasonings and enjoy.

It's so beautiful in the Rockies that you'll probably not care what you're eating.
