From people that have been there or live in the area, what are a few of your favorite places to eat(doesn't have to be just BBQ but that is obviously welcome)? I will be new to the area and looking to eat well when I'm there(Johnson County area).

ETA: went to Oklahoma joe's today for lunch(not the original unfortunately). I had the Z man and it was great. I have a favorite bbq sandwich in Fayetteville tht is similar to it but the roll and the meat put this one over the top (and I really liked the beans too). Thanks for some of the suggestions. I will definitely be trying the rest out this summer.

Michael Smith's for a high end meal. Rib plate at Jack's Stack. Go hungry.

Westport Flea Market

The Peanut for wings. They fry the whole wing and toss it in a great buffalo sauce. They have a few locations but the original location on Main is a true dive bar atmosphere.

The Prime Rib Dip at Houston's on The Plaza is the best sandwich I've ever had.

I can still eat like a starved dog when I put my mind to it, but their mixed rib plate(lamb, pork, and beef) pushed me to my limit. And it was all top notch.

It really is. It's what you hope for when you go to eat BBQ. My mom's from KC, it's the first place we eat at when we go to see that side of the fam.

Jacks Stack is legit. They have a local beer called the double wide which is 32oz and I believe it was 10% alcohol

i think kansas city is the only city that anthony bourdain had to leave early in no reservations. LCs BBQ and Rosedale BBq are good places to start.
