Nope. Not on a message board. Bring your knife over to a friends house who has a really nice (not necessarily expensive) set/knife. Cut the same foods with both.

There is a noticeable difference between "cheap" knives and "expensive" knives in balance, hand feel, fit, cutting ability, sharpness and durability.

Some people can use a cheap knife, keep it razor sharp and throw it away when it breaks/gets old. Other people have to have a nice knife to cook with. It's really up to the chef/cooks preference.

Look at the Sysco Black Diamond series. I have one that I like 10" chef. Don't remember the cost, but I've had it for over 10 years now.

I've got Wusthofs too. Sysco blade is comparable.

Remember it has to double as an ice pick, pry bar, screw driver, etc.

It also helps if it can cut PVC, wood, etc

My future inlaws got me a knife and bamboo cutting board for Christmas. It was a Martha Stewart set and I was VERY skeptical, but overall I really like the knife!

I used the search function and couldn't find exactly the thread that was discussing Cutco and it being a pyramid scheme, despite having pretty good knives. Just wanted to share this with the group.

I've used the knives for years, given them as gifts, like the quality AND the customer service, so that's my 2 cents. I also think they may indeed be a "soft" pyramid. But you might be interested in an experience I had with them this week, and if you aren't, click off now.

I have used their hand held garden clippers for years, love 'em, but they aren't cheap - about $75. This year I bought a second pair (so that 2 people could be clipping at once when we get after the yardwork) and used the package to send back my old pair for an annual free sharpening. This morning on my doorstep was a package with clippers and a letter: the clippers have been redesigned and in keeping with their Lifetime Guarantee, they are replacing the old ones with a brand new pair.

Say what you will, but that's a darn good guarantee/customer service in my book.

I've got wustofs, henkels, globals, and shuns. The 2 knives I use the most are my

dexter russel serrated
and
8" victorinox chef's knife

each about 20 bucks at ducotes or scardinas

I guess I'm lucky, but have YET to have to replace a knife in my whole collection. I've been using them daily for the past 10 years.

I use this knife... https://www.chefknivestogo.com/tojiro-dp-f-8081.html

Only con is that you need to get whetstones to sharpen it (Japanese).

Other than that, you can do surgery with it. Great knife.
