No to derail to much, but your favorite pickle to fry (brand/type)?

I like a good cold dill pickle but I really don't care for fried pickles.

Mushrooms
Crab Claws
Shrimp
Oysters
Pork Chops
Cheese Sticks
Fish (not super thin)
Chix Stips

Thats my limit.

Damn I love fried pickles. On my next wing Wednesday at home I'm going to do fried wickles. Can't wait.

Wickles, the wickedly delicious pickle, I'm gonna fry them.

If you love pickles, but you haven't had wickles, I would suggest you swing by the store tonight and get some.

I know I'm in the minority but I prefer spears over chips. The ones at a pluckers with the jalapeño-strawberry chutney are my favorite.

If the breading adheres, a spear is superior. But that's virtually never.

I order fried pickles anywhere that has them. They might be my favorite fried item.

I prefer sliced. More surface area for crunch.

I've seen the sliced peppers at SAMs.

You ever eat any Kentucky Beer Cheese ? Great stuff. I prefer it warm with pretzels.

Kentucky Beer Cheese

I bet dipping a fried pickle in this would be good.

Seasoned cornmeal/flour mix, hit it with a little fresh chopped dill and a side of herbed aioli... boom.

+1 although ranch will do if that's my only option

Me too. I enjoy fried zuchinni chips as much as I do pickles. Both great with beer.

I fried some the other night when I fried fish

I had the wild idea to freeze them first but that ended up making the flour not stick to them very well

Also, I noticed a jar of pickles looks like a lot more than it ends up being.

I like fried pickles too, but I love homemade onion rings/strings.

A place here fries the red onions instead of yellow. They are so damn good!

No spears, always use hamburger slices.

I do them in batches so I don't overcrowd the fryer but I use flour, Tony's sparingly( or use the salt free Tony's; You're going to sprinkle some salt on them when they're draining on paper towels), some Worcestershire ( a few big drops in the milk bath, a few blops of hot sauce), a couple of beaten eggs to dip the slices in, then dredge in the flour mixture.

Fry til they float. Drain on paper towels.

I find that most places fried pickles are a bit too salty, and I like salty foods. I think you need to use a completely separate breading than for tenders, wings, etc., that has less salt.

some places probably don't even drain the original pickle juice out of the bucket and refill it with tap water before using for starters.

just guessing.

i tried some at a bar near home recently and I think they used Zatarain's for the breading. Not exactly sure what was in the wash.
