Tried a small slice of Dong Phuong King cake at work today. It was just okay, but I liked the frosting on it. (Much better than that sugary goop that Manny puts on his ).

Never eaten one myself, but sent my daughter at college one last year from Sucre' and she said it was by far the best she's had.

I'm not a big king cake eater. I like the Cajun Kringle at Haydel's better than King Cake, but if I get a cake, I get theirs or Sucre. I wanted to try the Domenica king cake, but it can't be shipped. Might get someone to cart one to me. It looked terrific last year.

Arguably the most polarizing of the king cakes. Personally I hate it .

Very true. Brother loves them.

I think they're terrible.

The king cakes at Sucre' are divine. The are head and shoulders above anything baked North of the Bonne Carre'.

It's literally a piece of stale French bread with sugar on top.

Rouses are actually decent for grocery store king cakes.

I do not care for sucre KCs

The domenica version is the best I've had. It doesn't last a weekend in my house

For traditional, I'd go Haydel's (love the Kringle too) or Randazzo's. Rouses is good in a pinch

Maurice's. Not sure of the name. It's stuffed with cream and strawberries

Eta: fresh whipped cream
