For me:
Dale's Pale Ale
Firestone Walker Union Jack
4 Hands Divided Sky Rye IPA
Lagunitas Sucks
If I can get it on nitro draught, Deschutes Obsidian Stout.

Good thinking in listing a brewery that distributes only in Texas. Definitely qualifies as widely available.
By the definition of the OP I've gotta go with Sierra Nevada products, probably Pale Ale, but I prefer Hop Hunter.

A later post from the OP:
Plenty of Texans on this board, and it's MY choice for my personal solid beer so why does it matter?

Primarily, but interested in more local type options. I'm not bringing up Georgia ones because they won't be relevant to a Louisiana audience.

"all these people"
wasn't just directed at you

It doesn't. It's just you being typically asinine. But par for the course.

Odell's Cutthroat Porter is very good.

I usually give a Samuel Smith's Lager to people who are stuck on MBC beers. I think it's a solid beer for a macro and fairly available locally.

I don't know what to put down. I think you're referring to what I call a "fallback" beer. If I can't find a whale or that great seasonal beer, or something that I really want to drink, I get my fallback beer - the one that's really good, but I don't seek it out because it's always readily available.
I tend to drink at taprooms and I usually figure out which taproom I'm going to before I go, so there is usually no surprises. Because of this, I rarely have to rely on fallback beers.
Also, because I drink in taprooms, I don't buy a lot of bottled/canned beer. All of the taprooms that I frequent have 100% rotating taps, so none of them have any beers that are always on tap. If you like one thing and want to drink it regularly, you're going to have to drink it from a bottle or can.
Probably the beers I see most frequently on tap that I like are Breakside IPA and Boneyard's RPM IPA. I know that doesn't fit the criteria of widely available, but that's widely available here - even though RPM is draft only.
I haven't had an Oskar Blues or Sierra Nevada product outside of 10-Fidy, in several years, because I like to drink local, when I can.
