I'll be in Hammond training for the week looking for lunch and dinner recs. One evening, I'm planning on heading down the road to Middendorfs, other than that I'm open. Thanks in advance.

Salty Joe’s bbq is a cool place with good food.

Several good places downtown to eat. Kate Street has a good atmosphere and good food. Kirin for sushi.

I’d plan the Middendorf’s trip for one evening when the weather is nice and sit outside by the water.

Cate st Seafood or Kirin for sushi
Our Moms for burgers
Tope La for nicer dining. Their country fried steak lunch is amazing.
Brady’s has good lunches and a full bar too. Might want to save them for a dinner meal.
Tacos and Beer,,, well for the obvious. Lol
Pho Grace again for the obvious.
Oh, last but not least B&J’s seafood for good poboys and boiled seafood.
That’s all our normal lunch spots. We try to stay away from the chain restaurants.

Mariners for a burger, loaded tator, and a cold beer.

Hi ho bbq sammich, chips, and a barqs for lunch.

If looking for a nicer dinner, I prefer Buddy’s over some of the “fancy” places downtown.

Nola mia food truck pizza for lunch if you have somewhere to bring it.

Punjabi Dhaba is an Indian place in a gas station by the I-12 Hammond exit, it’s gotten some raves on this board and I really like it too. Thai Greenleaf is one of my favorite places in town, particularly the curry options. Kirin would definitely be my choice for sushi.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like some decent food over there. I kinda follow a rule, if I'm out of town I try to go to places I can't eat at home. Rules out chains and fast food to experience local haunts.

Roux and Brew in Ponchatoula is also a good meal with a little further drive.

Walk around downtown and go into any place there and you will be satisfied. Hammond downtown punches well above its weight class when it comes to food.
