How would you prepare these legs?

$30/lb King crab legs. Be honest, you'd boil them in cayenne/salt/crab boil...are we Cretans for treating all shellfish equally?

Beer, crab boil, onions, lemons, corn, boil, done.

King crab legs are delectable without any seasoning whatsoever. Just boil them for a few minutes....they're already cooked when you buy them....just have to heat them up. Dip the meat in drawn butter.

I lightly season with crab boil as well. Can't help it.

You're supposed to steam them not boil

Steam, have a little bit of garlic butter for dipping

I know. I'm on the East coast for work and they steam everything we boil as a general rule. Just wondering what southerners would do with such high-priced, shelled goodness.

I like to throw them on the grill for a few min and then serve with a butter garlic mixture. I love king crab legs and think that simple is best.

I put some water in a pot and put a steamer basket in the pot and steam them just long enough to heat them up. They're already cooked and plenty salty. The meat is very sweet. Steamed some about 3 weeks ago. I make some clarified butter and add fresh squeezed lemon juice once it's hot. Had fresh corn on the cob and steamed artichokes as sides. Good meal for all.

I've had them grilled before, also, split and brushed with a seasoned butter mixture. Delicious.

$30 lb seems steep, I thought the going rate was ~$20?

Depends on how big they are. These are "colossal" size. They were expensive ($30+ a pound)

Mine never hit water.
There's the wet paper towel and into the microwave method that I've never tried (Alton Brown is an advocate of this method), but I simply put them in some sort of steamer. A wok with a small rack that usually comes with them works great because the width of the wok facilitates the length of the legs. They're cooked already, so just warm them through without cooking more.
Absolutely no seasoning because there's no need to mess with the taste of these gorgeous morsels, but be sure to have some clarified / drawn butter to dip in. I like to use ghee actually.

I think unless you're buying them in Alaska they're frozen.

Frozen?
King crab would need to be frozen to make it here.

It was $40/dozen for steamed blue crabs. I'm dying for crabs and I still opted for shrimp. They didn't price these cooked, so yea just frozen just like that.

I do the Alton brown microwave thing and they come out awesome
Fully thaw under running water
Wrap in a wet paper towel, then wrap in plastic wrap
Microwave for a minute
The crab leg steams inside the plastic, very easy very good, only dip in water noncajun seasoning for me

King crab comes cooked and frozen. I've never seen raw legs. They just need to be heated in some fashion. Remarkably, that crabmeat freezes well unlike jumbo lump etc...
