What kind of burner have you been using? I've been using a KAB4 for years and it's great. The KAB6 is essentially the same burner, but a different base and regulator. My KAB4 gets things cranked up in no time.
I've had the KAB6 for about 2 years. It's great. Super quiet as well. I did have to replace the regulator that came with it (in the middle of a brew day at that).

Same one I have, although I still do most brew days on the gas stove inside.

I tested out my KAB6 last night and thought something was wrong when it didn't sound like a jet engine firing up.

B,
What regulator did you replace it with?

Some cheap one from Walmart down the road, since I was in a pickle. You don't expect your regulator to crap out in the middle of brew day.

This is an odd sentence to downvote...

It wasn't me.
Seriously, it wasn't.
ETA: I didn't downvote your Godfather post either.

This idea of dry hopping before fermentation is finished. At what point of fermentation are people throwing their hops in?

maybe you don't, but it's par for the course at Crosscut

The consensus is when 70% of fermentation is complete. Since I'm not going to be one who pulls samples all the time to figure that out, I toss the dry hops in at about 3 days after pitching. For the IPA I served at the zoo, it was roughly 65 hours after pitching when I put the first round of dry hops in.

That sounds like a waste of good future beer.

My thoughts exactly.

but being exact is crucial, isn't it?

I pulled a sample out last night just to see how far fermentation had gone. It has about 10/12 pts left to fall from its original 1070, so I suppose I will throw the dry hops in this afternoon. I got gun shy yesterday.

Here's a blog post some here may find interesting. It's about hazy beers, specifically IPAs. It was written by a brewery in Denver that makes some really tasty hoppy beers, and they are beautifully hazy.
It's nerdy, but knew some in this thread may find the time to read and enjoy.

Catalyst Fermentation System
It looks like it's about $100 too expensive.
